Key Accused Nida Khan Arrested in Nashik TCS Religious Conversion and Harassment Case
Mumbai, May 2026 : Maharashtra Police on Thursday arrested Nida Khan, one of the main accused in the alleged religious conversion and harassment case linked to the Nashik office of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), after she reportedly evaded authorities for several days.
According to police officials, Khan was apprehended from a residential apartment in Kaiser Colony in the Naregaon area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where she had allegedly been staying with her parents, brother, and aunt for the past few days. Investigators said police teams had been conducting surveillance on the location for nearly two days before carrying out the operation.
The arrest was executed jointly by the Nashik Special Investigation Team (SIT), the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Police Commissionerate, and the Crime Branch. Officials stated that a dedicated investigation team had been formed under the supervision of senior officers considering the sensitivity and seriousness of the case.
Police sources said Khan was traced using technical surveillance methods and intelligence-based inputs gathered during the investigation. After completing legal formalities, she was produced before a Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for transit remand proceedings before being taken to Nashik for further interrogation.
In an official statement, the SIT confirmed that Khan was wanted in connection with a case registered at Devlali Camp Police Station under Crime Register No. 156/26. The arrest was carried out under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
Investigators stated that the probe remains ongoing and several aspects of the case are still under examination. Police officials said additional information is being collected through the interrogation of the accused and warned that action would be taken against any other individuals found involved during the course of the investigation.
According to reports, Khan had earlier approached a Nashik court seeking anticipatory bail and temporary protection from arrest, claiming that she was two months pregnant. However, the court reportedly declined to grant her interim relief.
The controversy began after a woman employee working at the Nashik office of TCS lodged a complaint against her colleague Danish Sheikh. In her complaint, the woman alleged that Sheikh entered into a physical relationship with her after promising marriage, despite allegedly already being married to another woman.
Police documents further stated that Nida Khan, who is Sheikh’s sister, allegedly made derogatory remarks regarding the complainant’s religion and pressured her to convert to another faith. Investigators also claimed that Khan and another accused, Tausif Akhtar, had concealed Sheikh’s marital status from the complainant.
As the investigation progressed, several more women reportedly came forward with allegations of mental and sexual harassment against senior employees at the Nashik branch. According to the complainants, the incidents allegedly took place between February 2022 and March 2026, while their complaints were allegedly ignored by the human resources department.
So far, police have arrested seven individuals in connection with the case, and officials indicated that further arrests are possible depending on the findings of the investigation.
Following the emergence of the controversy, TCS issued an official clarification on social media platform X stating that Nida Khan was neither an HR manager nor involved in recruitment-related responsibilities within the company. The company clarified that she worked as a process associate and did not hold any leadership or managerial role.
The IT services company also stated that no formal complaints regarding the matter had been received through its internal grievance mechanisms.
The case has triggered widespread public attention and debate, particularly because of the allegations involving workplace harassment, religious pressure, and alleged negligence in addressing employee complaints. Police officials said the investigation is continuing and all allegations are being examined thoroughly.
