Mohammed Siraj Reaches 200 T20 Wickets Milestone During IPL Clash Against KKR

Kolkata, May 2026: Gujarat Titans pacer Mohammed Siraj achieved a major milestone in his cricketing career on Saturday by claiming his 200th wicket in T20 cricket during the IPL 2026 match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The experienced fast bowler reached the landmark with the prized wicket of KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane, becoming the 21st Indian bowler to complete 200 wickets in the shortest format of the game.

Siraj produced the breakthrough in the fifth over of Kolkata’s innings with a sharp fuller delivery that swung in late and shattered Rahane’s stumps. The dismissal once again highlighted Siraj’s effectiveness against the veteran batter, whom he has now dismissed three times in IPL contests. The moment marked another significant chapter in Siraj’s steady rise as one of India’s premier pace bowlers across formats.

The Telangana speedster reached the 200-wicket mark in his 174th T20 appearance. Over the years, he has built an impressive record in the format with consistent performances for both franchise and country. His wickets have come at an average slightly above 25, while maintaining an economy rate of just over eight runs per over. Siraj has also registered six four-wicket hauls in T20 cricket, underlining his ability to dismantle batting line-ups in pressure situations.

A major portion of his success has come in the Indian Premier League, where Siraj has established himself as a dependable fast bowler. Out of his 200 wickets, 123 have come in 121 IPL matches. His ability to deliver breakthroughs with the new ball and bowl effectively at the death has made him a vital asset for every franchise he has represented.

Despite Siraj’s personal milestone, Gujarat Titans endured a difficult outing with the ball as Kolkata Knight Riders piled up a massive 247 for 2 in their allotted 20 overs. KKR batters dominated throughout the innings, taking advantage of several fielding lapses and missed chances by Gujarat.

New Zealand opener Finn Allen led the assault with a sensational innings of 93 runs off just 35 deliveries. Allen was dropped twice — first on 14 and later on 33 — and Gujarat paid heavily for those missed opportunities. The explosive batter smashed four boundaries and ten towering sixes at an astonishing strike rate of more than 265, putting the Titans under immense pressure right from the powerplay.

After Siraj dismissed Rahane for 14, Angkrish Raghuvanshi joined Allen and the pair stitched together a fluent partnership that kept the scoreboard racing. Raghuvanshi went on to score a superb unbeaten 82 off 44 balls, which turned out to be his highest IPL score. His innings included four boundaries and seven sixes as he anchored the innings brilliantly after Allen’s dismissal.

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green added further damage in the final overs with a powerful unbeaten 52 off just 28 deliveries. Green struck three fours and four sixes while sharing an unbroken 108-run partnership with Raghuvanshi for the third wicket. Their aggressive finish ensured Kolkata crossed the 240-run mark comfortably.

Although Gujarat Titans struggled collectively with the ball, Siraj’s landmark achievement stood out as a memorable personal accomplishment. His journey from a young fast bowler from Hyderabad to becoming one of India’s leading pacers has been marked by determination, hard work, and consistent performances at the highest level.

The 200-wicket milestone further cements Mohammed Siraj’s reputation as one of the finest Indian pace bowlers in T20 cricket today.
