Cancer Hospital Built Under Public–Private Partnership to Become a Milestone in Healthcare Sector: CM Devendra Fadnavis

Pune, May 2026: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that the state-of-the-art cancer hospital built on Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) land with a strong sense of social responsibility is an important and inspiring step for the healthcare sector, and that this public-private partnership (PPP) initiative will emerge as a milestone in medical services.

He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the advanced cancer treatment centre developed jointly by the Pune Municipal Corporation and Aapulki Healthcare. The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant (Dada) Patil, Mayor Manjusha Nagpure, MP Medha Kulkarni, MLAs Bhimrao Tapkir and Rahul Kul, Deputy Mayor Parshuram Wadekar, and Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, among others.

The Chief Minister said that the incidence of cancer is rising rapidly, but if diagnosed and treated at the right time, the disease can be completely cured. However, delays in treatment often lead to prolonged medical procedures and heavy financial burden on patients and their families. Keeping this in mind, both the Central and State governments have included cancer treatment under various health schemes to ensure timely and affordable care for common citizens.

He further informed that Maharashtra is developing a large-scale “Cancer Grid” system to strengthen cancer care infrastructure across the state. Through this network, patients will be able to access more efficient, timely, and coordinated treatment services. He noted that this integrated system will play a crucial role in improving healthcare delivery across Maharashtra.

CM Fadnavis also appreciated the initiative undertaken by the Pune Municipal Corporation and Aapulki Foundation under the public-private partnership model, stating that such collaborations can significantly improve healthcare accessibility and quality.

Earlier, the Chief Minister inspected the hospital and reviewed various departments, advanced medical equipment, and patient care facilities available at the centre. He took detailed information about the treatment infrastructure developed for cancer patients.

The programme was attended by civic officials, representatives of Aapulki Foundation, medical professionals, and a large number of citizens.
