27th National Conference on e-Governance Begins Tomorrow in Mumbai
Mumbai : A two-day e-Governance conference on “Developed India: Secure and Sustainable e-Service Delivery,” jointly organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY), and the Government of Maharashtra, is set to begin in Mumbai on September 3 and 4, 2024. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh will inaugurate the event.
A press conference was held at Mantralaya, Mumbai, to provide details about the upcoming conference. Present at the briefing were Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, Secretary of the Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances Department of the Government of India, V. Srinivas, Additional Secretary Puneet Yadav, Director (Administration) of the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations, Hemraj Bagul, and Joint Director of the Letter Notification Office, Saeed Hashmi.
Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik announced that the conference will showcase successful e-Governance initiatives implemented in Maharashtra. Presentations will cover various topics, including smart Primary Health Centers (PHCs), digital bridges, caste authentication blockchain, nutrition tracking, and disaster management. The goal is to promote successful initiatives by discussing various district-level projects, enabling learning and replication across Maharashtra and other states in India.
While addressing the media, V. Srinivas emphasized the importance of administrative reforms for the upcoming generation during Amrit Kal and the need to provide seamless services to the most marginalized sections of society. He highlighted that the conference aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Vision 2047, aiming to reduce unnecessary government interference in people’s lives and improve the overall quality of life through better processes.
Key Highlights of the 27th National Conference on e-Governance:
- The conference will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh, and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
- Sixteen exemplary initiatives will be honored with the National Awards for e-Governance 2024, including nine Gold, six Silver, and one Jury Award. These awards will be presented to Central, State, and District administrations, as well as Educational and Research Institutions.
- The conference will feature six plenary sessions and six breakout sessions, with around 60 speakers from diverse backgrounds sharing their experiences and best practices on various sub-topics, such as:
- Digital Platforms and Public Infrastructure for a Developing India
- Shaping Service Delivery
- Privacy and Security in the Digital Age
- Use of Artificial Intelligence in Administration
- Building Sustainability through e-Governance
- Cyber Security and Emergency Response Preparedness
- Excellence in e-Governance Initiatives by NAEG 2024 Gold Award Winners
- Emerging Technologies and Future Trends in e-Governance
- Maharashtra State Government’s Initiatives in e-Governance
The conference aims to serve as a platform for in-depth discussions on incorporating cutting-edge technologies to enhance e-service delivery in India. Industry experts will share their insights and perspectives on the future of e-Governance. Representatives from 28 states and 8 Union Territories will participate in the event. Additionally, an exhibition highlighting India’s achievements in e-Governance, along with a photo exhibition featuring previous award winners, will be held during the conference.
