Yogi govt to build new ghat on Gomti River in Naimisharanya for tourists’ convenience
Lucknow : The Yogi government, as part of its ongoing drive to develop Naimisharanya Dham in Sitapur into a major religious tourism destination in Uttar Pradesh, is set to construct a new ghat at the pilgrimage site along the Gomti River.
The UP Project Corporation Limited has been tasked with the Rs 4.27 crore project, which is expected to be completed within 12 months, excluding the rainy season. The corporation has also initiated the process of selecting a contractor for the project and the construction is likely to start this month itself. The ghat will be built between Rajghat & Dashashwamedh ghat.
Notably, the Uttar Pradesh government has undertaken several initiatives to beautify ghats along the Gomti River. Naimisharanya Tirtha Kshetra, a revered site where 88,000 sages meditated, is the sacred place where Maharishi Ved Vyas composed the four Vedas, six Shastras, 18 Puranas, Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, the Mahabharata, and Shri Satyanarayan Vrat Katha.
The religious significance of Naimisharanya is profound, as the Char Dham Yatra is not considered complete without a visit to this holy site. In line with the development of Kashi, Ayodhya, Mathura, Vrindavan, the Braj region, and the Vindhya pilgrimage area, the Yogi government is now prioritizing several projects in Naimisharanya.
In line with CM Yogi’s vision, a comprehensive action plan has been devised to develop all pilgrimage areas in the state. As part of this plan, the construction of new ghats, the renovation of existing ones, and the enhancement of tourism and beautification efforts in the Naimish pilgrimage area will be accelerated. The new ghat, built between Rajghat and Dashashwamedh Ghat, will significantly add to the Naimish pilgrimage site. The concrete ghat will boast state-of-the-art facilities.
