President Donald Trump To Skip Son’s Wedding Citing Governmental Responsibilities.

Washington DC; May 2026: President Donald Trump has said yesterday (Friday – 22nd May 2026; late night IST) that he is not going to attend his son Donald Trump Junior’s wedding this weekend, citing government business.

“While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Junior, and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so”, the President wrote on Truth Social. “I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, DC, at the White House during this important period of time”, he said. “Congratulations to Don and Bettina!”

The President was originally supposed to go to his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, this weekend after campaigning with Representative Mike Lawler (Republican) in New York’s 17th Congressional District Friday, but his schedule was changed to stay in Washington.

The President was asked by reporters on Thursday (21st May) about attending his son’s wedding to Palm Beach socialite and model Bettina Anderson in the Bahamas this weekend, and he had said he wasn’t sure if he could. “He’d like me to go, but it’s going to be just a small, little private affair, and I’m going to try and make it”, he said. “I’m in the midst, I said, You know, this is not good timing for me, I have a thing called Iran and other things”.

“That’s one I can’t win on”, he added. “If I do attend, I get killed, if I don’t attend, I get killed, by the fake news, of course, I’m talking about, no. But he’s got a very good lady, a person who I’ve known for a long time, and hopefully, they’re going to have a great marriage”.

Trump Junior had announced his engagement to Bettina Anderson in December 2025, calling it a big win. This is his second marriage. He was previously married to Vanessa Trump, and the two had five children, including Kai Trump, who is an avid golfer like the President. Meanwhile, Vanessa is dating ex-golfer Tiger Woods, and on the 21st of this month has informed that she has been detected with breast cancer.

Earlier, Trump Junior was also engaged to Kimberly Guilfoyle, whom the president has since appointed as U.S. Ambassador to Greece.
