US Authorities Foil Alleged Plot Targeting Ivanka Trump; Suspect Linked to Iran-Backed Groups Arrested

Washington, May 2026 : US authorities have uncovered an alleged terror plot targeting Ivanka Trump, with investigators claiming that the suspect was motivated by revenge for the killing of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani in a US military strike in Baghdad in January 2020.

According to reports published by the New York Post, a 32-year-old Iraqi national identified as Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi allegedly planned to target Ivanka Trump and had reportedly obtained a floor plan of her residence in Florida. Authorities claim the suspect expressed a desire to avenge Soleimani’s death, allegedly stating that “killing Ivanka would mean burning Trump’s house as he burned ours.”

Investigators further alleged that Al-Saadi posted a map of the residential area where Ivanka Trump lives with her husband, Jared Kushner, on social media platforms. The posts reportedly included threats in Arabic directed at the Trump family and US security agencies.

The suspect is believed to have links with Iran-backed Shiite militia group Kata’ib Hezbollah as well as Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). US officials allege that he was trained by operatives associated with the IRGC and later became involved in extremist activities targeting American and Jewish interests abroad.

Al-Saadi was arrested in Turkey on May 15 before being extradited to the United States, where he now faces multiple terrorism-related charges. According to the US Department of Justice, the suspect is accused of coordinating or planning at least 18 attacks and attempted attacks across Europe and North America.

Among the incidents under investigation are alleged Molotov cocktail attacks on the Bank of New York Mellon in Amsterdam, the stabbing of two Jewish citizens in London and a shooting incident near the US Consulate in Toronto. Federal investigators have also linked the suspect to arson attacks targeting Jewish places of worship in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Security officials believe the suspect used international travel networks to maintain contact with extremist cells operating across several countries. According to Entifadh Qanbar, a former military attaché at the Iraqi Embassy in Washington, Al-Saadi grew up in Baghdad and later underwent training in Iran after the death of his father, Iranian General Ahmad Kazemi.

Qanbar alleged that the suspect used what appeared to be a religious travel agency as a cover to travel internationally and establish links with radical networks. Investigators also stated that Al-Saadi maintained an active presence on social media, where he frequently shared Iranian military imagery and messages praising Soleimani.

The alleged plot has renewed concerns among US security agencies regarding threats posed by Iran-linked extremist groups and individuals seeking retaliation for Soleimani’s killing during the Trump administration.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect is currently being held in solitary confinement at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn as investigations continue. US federal agencies are expected to pursue further inquiries into possible international connections and any additional threats linked to the case.
