Lucknow, May 2026 : Giving fresh momentum to the sports revolution in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government is set to present Aligarh division with a landmark project that is expected to transform the future of sporting talent in the state. Built across 13,000 square metres at a cost exceeding ₹57 crore, the Olympic-standard indoor sports complex is now fully ready. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will soon dedicate it to the public.

Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the complex is poised to become a center of new opportunities and aspirations not only for Aligarh but for athletes across western Uttar Pradesh.

Municipal Commissioner Prem Prakash Meena said, “This is the division’s first world-class indoor sports complex where facilities meeting national and international standards have been developed.
The Yogi government’s vision is not merely to build stadiums, but to provide a platform for talented youth from villages, towns, and smaller cities so they can establish their identity at national and international levels.”

The biggest highlight of this massive sports complex is its national-level swimming pool. Built with advanced technology, the pool has the potential to become a venue for state and national-level competitions in the future.

Swimmers from Aligarh division, who earlier had to depend on bigger cities, will now get opportunities for high-level training and competitions in their own city.

The complex also features a modern multipurpose hall where various indoor sports competitions can be organized.

Badminton and basketball courts have been developed according to international standards. In addition, players will have access to a billiards room and a hi-tech gymnasium. Designed with professional training and fitness in mind, the complex will provide athletes with facilities comparable to those available in metropolitan cities.

The sports complex has not been designed merely as a practice center, but as a complete sports hub capable of hosting major sporting events.

A modern spectator gallery has been developed for audiences, allowing large numbers of people to comfortably enjoy competitions.

Besides this, VIP rooms, media rooms, and modern lounge areas have also been created, making it easier to host national-level events. With these facilities, Aligarh is now being seen as ready to host major sporting competitions in the future.

Municipal Commissioner Prem Prakash Meena said, “After the launch of this complex, athletes from Aligarh and nearby districts will no longer need to travel to cities like Delhi, Noida, or Lucknow for professional training. Local talent will now have access to world-class facilities within their own region. This is expected to benefit economically weaker yet talented athletes the most.”

In the coming years, the complex is expected to establish Aligarh as one of Uttar Pradesh’s leading sports centers. Regular training programs and competitions here are likely to produce national-level athletes.
