Bengaluru Police Issue Strict Advisory Ahead of IPL 2026 Final, Urge Fans to Avoid Public Celebrations

Bengaluru, May 2026 : With Royal Challengers Bengaluru reaching the Tata IPL 2026 final, the Bengaluru City Police on Friday issued a comprehensive public advisory urging citizens and cricket fans to maintain law and order and avoid public celebrations after the match scheduled for May 31.

The police said that strict safety arrangements and preventive measures will be enforced across the city to ensure public peace and to avoid any untoward incidents during and after the high-voltage final.

In its advisory, the Bengaluru City Police directed the public not to organise or participate in any form of public celebration once the match result is declared. Authorities stressed that maintaining discipline is essential given the expected large gatherings and heightened emotions among fans.

One of the key restrictions announced pertains to the use of digital display systems. The police stated that LED screens or walls facing public roads must not be installed without prior permission from the concerned authorities. Existing LED screens will not be allowed to broadcast the match in open public spaces.

The advisory further prohibits the installation of screens outside malls, pubs, restaurants, and commercial establishments if they are visible to the general public for live match viewing. Officials said these measures are intended to prevent overcrowding and ensure crowd control in sensitive areas.

Celebratory activities involving firecrackers have also been strictly banned. The police warned against the use of crackers, inflammable substances, or any hazardous materials during or after the match celebrations.

In addition, the advisory lays down strict restrictions on traffic-related violations. Bike rallies, reckless driving, speeding, performing stunts, unnecessary honking, and road blockades have been completely prohibited. Citizens have been instructed to strictly comply with traffic police directions to ensure smooth movement across the city.

The police also cautioned against consumption of alcohol in public places, stating that such behaviour often leads to disturbances, fights, and disorderly conduct. Any act of public nuisance, misbehaviour, or violence will be dealt with strictly under the law.

In today’s digital age, authorities have also placed special emphasis on social media conduct. The advisory warns citizens against sharing provocative messages, rumours, or hate speech online that could inflame tensions or lead to clashes between rival fan groups.

Fans have been specifically urged not to post content that insults or provokes supporters of opposing teams, as such actions could escalate into law and order issues.

The police reiterated that ensuring peace and public safety during such high-profile sporting events is a shared responsibility. Citizens were urged to cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies and adhere to all instructions issued before and after the match.

“Maintaining law and order, public peace, and safety is the responsibility of every citizen,” the advisory stated, appealing for restraint and responsible behaviour from cricket enthusiasts across Bengaluru.

With excitement running high ahead of the final, authorities have intensified preparations to ensure that celebrations, if any, remain safe, controlled, and within legal boundaries.
