Radio Kheri 88.4 MHz Facilitates Anti-Larva Spray and Fogging Campaign Under “Sehat Sahi Labh” Initiative
Lakhimpur Kheri | May 2026 : Under the “Sehat Sahi Labh” programme being implemented by Community Radio Station Radio Kheri 88.4 MHz, a special anti-larva spray and fogging campaign was conducted in four villages of Lakhimpur Block in collaboration with the District Health Department and District Malaria Department.
The campaign covered the villages of Piprakaramchand, Ujjargoom, Koreya, and Dhasrapur, where residents had repeatedly raised concerns regarding the increasing mosquito menace and the growing risk of diseases such as dengue and malaria.
Listeners of Radio Kheri’s programme “Sehat Sahi, Labh Kayi” and women associated with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) communicated their concerns to the radio station through phone calls, messages, and other feedback channels. Community members requested Radio Kheri to raise the issue with the Health Department and facilitate action at the local level.
Taking the matter seriously, Radio Kheri coordinated with the Health Department, following which immediate action was initiated within two days under the guidance of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Santosh Gupta and with the support of District Malaria Officer Shri Harishankar.
During the campaign, anti-larva chemical Temephos was sprayed in stagnant water bodies, drains, and waterlogged areas using specialised spray equipment. Fogging was also conducted to help control the spread of mosquitoes. The campaign is estimated to have benefited nearly 8,000–10,000 residents, including children, women, elderly persons, and youth.
Officials and personnel from the District Malaria Department, including Neeraj Maurya, Arvind Kumar, Teerath Ram, and Himanshu Maurya, played a key role in implementing the campaign.
The Radio Kheri team also remained actively involved throughout the initiative under the guidance of Station Head Shri Sanjay Singh and Station Director Anshika Singh. Team members Mansi Jaiswal and Rupanshi Verma contributed significantly to campaign coordination and coverage.
Health Department officials and Radio Kheri representatives appealed to residents to prevent water stagnation in and around their homes, regularly clean coolers and water storage tanks, and maintain sanitation and hygiene to reduce mosquito breeding.
The Health Department also informed residents that anti-larva spray and fogging drives would continue periodically as part of disease prevention efforts.
Community members appreciated Radio Kheri’s proactive role in bringing public concerns to the administration and facilitating a rapid response. The initiative was widely recognised as an important public-interest intervention.
Through its programmes and outreach activities, Radio Kheri continues to work towards public awareness on health, education, women’s empowerment, local culture, and agricultural innovation.
