Participation of All Essential for Building a Tobacco-Free Chhattisgarh: Minister Lakshmi Rajwade

Raipur, May 2026 : On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, observed on May 31, Chhattisgarh Social Welfare Minister Lakshmi Rajwade appealed to the people of the state to stay away from tobacco and other intoxicating substances. She said that tobacco consumption poses a serious threat to an individual’s health, family, and society as a whole.

In her message, Minister Rajwade stated that World No Tobacco Day provides an important opportunity to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use. She noted that tobacco consumption leads to several serious health problems, including cancer, heart disease, and respiratory illnesses.

The minister emphasized that all sections of society must work together to protect young people from falling into addiction. She said collective efforts are necessary to create awareness and prevent the growing influence of substance abuse among youth.

Rajwade highlighted that the Chhattisgarh government has been consistently working to spread awareness through various de-addiction campaigns. As part of these initiatives, public awareness programmes are being organised in schools, colleges, and gram panchayats across the state to promote a healthy, informed, and addiction-free society.

She urged young people to adopt a positive outlook and maintain a healthy lifestyle, stressing that staying away from addictive substances is the key to a safe and bright future.

Appealing to citizens to actively contribute towards building a tobacco-free Chhattisgarh, Minister Rajwade said that public participation is essential to achieving the goal of a healthier and addiction-free state. She called upon everyone to join hands in the fight against tobacco use and help create a better future for coming generations.
