IPL 2026 Final: RCB Opt to Bowl Against Gujarat Titans in High-Stakes Title Clash

Ahmedabad, May 31: Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the toss and elected to bowl first against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

RCB captain Rajat Patidar chose to field first, putting Gujarat Titans in to bat in what promises to be a thrilling contest between two of the league’s strongest teams. With the IPL trophy on the line, the final has generated enormous excitement among fans, who packed the stadium well before the start of play.

The summit clash carries added significance as both franchises are chasing their second IPL title. RCB, who lifted the trophy last season to end their long wait for championship success, are aiming to defend their crown and become back-to-back champions. Gujarat Titans, meanwhile, are looking to add another title to their cabinet with a powerful all-round performance.

Having been asked to bat first, Gujarat will rely heavily on their formidable batting line-up to post a challenging total. The team boasts an impressive top order led by captain Shubman Gill, alongside opener Sai Sudharsan and wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler. Their batting depth is further strengthened by players such as Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia.

RCB, on the other hand, will bank on their experienced bowling attack to restrict the Titans. The pace trio of Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jacob Duffy is expected to play a crucial role in the opening overs. All-rounders Krunal Pandya and Romario Shepherd provide additional balance to the side.

The spotlight will also be on RCB stalwart Virat Kohli, who will be eager to make a decisive contribution in another IPL final. Along with skipper Rajat Patidar, wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma and power-hitter Tim David, Kohli forms the backbone of RCB’s batting unit.

As the final gets underway, all eyes are on Gujarat Titans’ batting effort and whether they can put up a formidable total under pressure. Equally important will be RCB’s bowling performance as they seek early breakthroughs and maintain control of the contest.

With two title-winning sides facing off and a packed Narendra Modi Stadium providing a spectacular backdrop, the IPL 2026 final promises a gripping battle where every run, wicket and over could prove decisive in determining the champion.
