FIFA World Cup 2026: Big Upset For Germany, As Lennart Karl Has Been Ruled-Out Due To Torn Muscle In Left Thigh.

June 2026: With just 04 days left before the “Greatest Show On Earth – FIFA World Cup” begins on June 12th, German football team is devastated by a trauma – when their triumph card Lennart Karl was ruled out due to a muscle tear in his left thigh, while practicing with his team mates.

The Starlet was injured in training, with the DFB confirming that he will miss the tournament, with Assan Ouedraogo in line to fill the void. “It hurts incredibly to miss the biggest tournament”, Karl wrote in an Instagram post. “Unfortunately, injuries often come at the worst possible time”.

I don’t even know where to begin, but it hurts incredibly to miss the biggest tournament. I did everything I could to be fit for the World Cup. Unfortunately, injuries often happen at the worst possible time. I wish my team the best of luck and will, of course, support them every minute! I’ll come back stronger; I promise. Thanks for the great messages. Good luck @dfb_team”, the Bayern Munich footballer wrote on his Instagram.

The German Football Association (DFB) announced late Friday evening that Karl suffered a torn muscle in his left thigh during the team’s final training session before a friendly against the USA in Chicago and will miss the tournament.

“I feel incredibly sorry for Lenny. With his carefree attitude, his flair for the game, his pace, and his personality, he was a perfect fit for the team. It’s a huge shock for him and all of us that he’ll miss the World Cup” said head coach Julian Nagelsmann on the DFB website. “It’s only a small consolation that he’s young and has many more tournaments ahead of him. We would have loved to have him on the team”.

At the same time, the DFB announced its intention to call up Assan Ouedraogo to fill that void left by Karl’s absence. The 20 years old from RB Leipzig made his debut for the senior national team in November 2025, scoring a goal a 6-0 victory against Slovakia.

Nagelsmann explained: “With Assan Ouedraogo, we’re adding a player who, like Lenny, had a fantastic start with us. He’s also highly talented and should play with courage and freedom here”.

Team Maverick.
