A New Chapter of Success: Modern Machinery Transforming Agriculture in Dhamtari
Direct Seeded Rice Technology to Echo Across 10 Villages
Raipur, June 2026 : As times change, the farmers of Chhattisgarh are increasingly embracing modern agricultural practices and moving beyond traditional methods. In a significant step towards realizing the vision of a developed Dhamtari, a landmark initiative was launched on Thursday that is set to open new avenues of prosperity for farmers in 10 villages of the district.
Seed Drill Machines Strengthen Custom Hiring Centres
In a commendable effort to promote agricultural mechanisation, the Centre for Advanced Research and Development (CARD) distributed modern seed drill machines to Custom Hiring Centres in 10 selected villages of Dhamtari district. The machines were handed over during a ceremony held at the College of Agriculture and Research Centre, Charra (Kurud).
The initiative aims to make modern farm equipment more accessible and affordable, especially for small and marginal farmers who often face difficulties in purchasing expensive agricultural machinery.
Beneficiary Villages and Promotion of Direct Seeded Rice (DSR)
The villages benefiting under the programme include Kanharpuri, Mongra, Kurra, Deori, Rakhi, Gatapar, Bhaisbod, Kuhkuha, Atang, and Bakli.
On the occasion, a one-day farmers’ workshop was jointly organised by the CARD Foundation and the Agriculture Department. Agricultural experts provided training on the Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) technique, which involves sowing paddy seeds directly in rows instead of the conventional transplantation method.
According to experts, DSR has the potential to be a game-changer for farmers in Dhamtari. Compared to traditional paddy transplantation, the method significantly reduces the cost of seeds and labour. It also leads to substantial water savings, making it an important step toward sustainable water management and conservation.
The technique is expected to increase crop productivity and improve farmers’ net income through reduced cultivation costs and scientific crop management practices.
Administration Committed to Innovation and Farmer Prosperity
Expressing satisfaction over the initiative, the District Collector said that the state government remains fully committed to the welfare of farmers.
He noted that agriculture plays a crucial role in the vision of a developed Dhamtari and that the adoption of modern technologies and farm mechanisation will help enhance productivity and increase farmers’ incomes.
“Our goal is to empower even the smallest farmer and work towards doubling agricultural productivity and income through innovation and modern farming techniques,” he said.
A Collective Effort Towards a Better Future
The programme was attended by the Deputy Director of Agriculture, representatives from the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, the Dean of the Agriculture College, and officials from the CARD Foundation.
At the conclusion of the event, guests flagged off the seed drill machines for their respective villages. The moment symbolised more than just the distribution of equipment—it marked the beginning of a new journey toward economic prosperity, sustainable agriculture, and technological advancement for the 10 villages of Dhamtari.
This innovative initiative is expected to write a new success story in the agricultural history of Chhattisgarh and serve as a model for modern, farmer-centric development.
