Guardian Minister Girish Mahajan Inspects Heavy Rain-Affected Areas

Nanded : State Rural Development Minister and Nanded District Guardian Minister Girish Mahajan inspected areas in Latur and Nanded districts that were affected by heavy rains. During his visit to Sunegaon Shivara in Loha taluka of Nanded district, he assessed the damage to agriculture and held discussions with local farmers.

Nanded district has experienced heavy rainfall over the past three days, leading to significant damage to crops, livestock, houses, and other properties. Minister Mahajan instructed the local administration to carry out damage assessments (panchnamas) as soon as the rains subside. On Sunday, 68 of the district’s 93 mandals were severely affected by the downpour, resulting in extensive damage to standing crops.

The district’s revenue department is actively working to gather data on the losses, with a detailed report expected by tomorrow. During the inspection, Minister Mahajan was accompanied by District Collector Abhijit Raut and officials from the District Agriculture and Irrigation Departments. According to the Meteorological Department, weather conditions are expected to improve within a day or two, after which damage assessments should proceed swiftly.

Additionally, the minister reviewed ongoing projects in the district and emphasized the need for timely panchnamas for the damage caused along the Godavari River as well as in urban areas. He assured that the government has taken prompt action to address the losses and suggested that relief efforts, including financial assistance, should be expedited.
