Special Program on the Theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” to be Held Across Chhattisgarh on International Yoga Day on June 21

International Yoga Day Celebrations to Be Organised Statewide; Governor, Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Ministers, Ministers, MPs and MLAs to Attend as Chief Guests

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai to Lead Main Event in Surguja

Raipur, June 2026: A statewide mass yoga session will be organised across Chhattisgarh on June 21, 2026, to mark International Yoga Day, with this year’s theme being “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The Chhattisgarh government has completed preparations for the celebrations from district headquarters down to the gram panchayat level.

According to orders issued by the General Administration Department, collective yoga programmes will be held at district headquarters throughout the state, with the Governor, Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Ministers, Ministers, Members of Parliament and Members of the Legislative Assembly attending as chief guests at various locations.

Governor and Chief Minister to Lead Major Events

A state-level yoga programme will be organised in Raipur under the chief guestship of Governor Ramen Deka. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will participate in the main event in Surguja district, where a mass yoga session will begin at 7 a.m. The programme will be presided over by Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal.

Senior Leaders Assigned to District Headquarters

Under the government’s schedule, Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu will attend the programme in Bilaspur, while Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao will be the chief guest in Durg and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma in Kabirdham. Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh will lead the celebrations in Rajnandgaon.

Other ministers designated as chief guests include:

  • Ramvichar Netam – Korea
  • Dayaldas Baghel – Mahasamund
  • Kedar Kashyap – Sukma
  • Lakhan Lal Dewangan – Kanker
  • O.P. Choudhary – Janjgir-Champa
  • Tank Ram Verma – Sarangarh-Bilaigarh
  • Lakshmi Rajwade – Balrampur-Ramanujganj
  • Rajesh Agrawal – Jashpur
  • Guru Khushwant Saheb – Korba
  • Gajendra Yadav – Balod

MPs and MLAs to Lead Programmes in Other Districts

Several Members of Parliament have also been entrusted with leading Yoga Day events across the state. These include:

  • Brijmohan Agrawal – Balodabazar-Bhatapara
  • Vijay Baghel – Bemetara
  • Santosh Pandey – Mohla-Manpur-Chowki
  • Chintamani Maharaj – Surajpur
  • Roopkumari Choudhary – Gariaband
  • Radheshyam Rathia – Raigarh
  • Kamlesh Jangde – Janjgir
  • Mahesh Kashyap – Narayanpur
  • Bhojraj Nag – Kondagaon

Similarly, the following legislators will serve as chief guests at district-level programmes:

Preparations in Final Stage

District administrations across Chhattisgarh are making final arrangements to ensure the successful and dignified conduct of International Yoga Day celebrations. Large-scale public participation is expected as citizens gather to practice yoga and promote healthy living under this year’s theme of “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”

The initiative aims to spread awareness about the physical, mental and emotional benefits of yoga while encouraging people of all age groups to adopt healthier lifestyles through regular practice.
