Raipur, June 2026: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday dedicated development projects worth more than ₹603.46 crore to the people of Gariaband district during a large public function held at the Police Parade Ground in Gariaband.
The Chief Minister inaugurated 46 completed projects worth ₹86.75 crore and performed the foundation-laying and groundbreaking ceremonies for 30 new projects valued at ₹516.70 crore. These projects are expected to strengthen infrastructure across key sectors, including roads, irrigation, healthcare, education, drinking water supply, electricity, and public services, accelerating the district’s overall development.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sai said the state government is committed to ensuring that the benefits of development reach the last person in society. He emphasized that the government is working with dedication for the welfare of farmers, women, youth, tribal communities and economically weaker families, while ensuring that government schemes reach eligible beneficiaries through transparent and efficient governance.
Highlighting initiatives for electricity consumers, the Chief Minister said the Chief Minister Electricity Bill Payment Resolution Scheme is providing relief on pending electricity bills worth nearly ₹757 crore, benefiting lakhs of families across the state. He also noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, rooftop solar installations are being promoted, helping households reduce power expenses while encouraging clean energy adoption.
Speaking about farmers’ welfare, Sai said new centres of agricultural cooperative credit societies are being established to improve access to loans, fertilizers, seeds and other essential services. He urged farmers to adopt modern farming techniques and stressed the importance of using nano urea, which reduces production costs, preserves soil fertility and enhances crop productivity.
The Chief Minister reiterated that transparency and good governance remain top priorities of the state government. To ensure prompt resolution of public grievances, the government has launched the Chief Minister Helpline 1076, and citizens were encouraged to make full use of the facility.
Sai said India is gaining increasing global recognition under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that both the Centre and the state government are working together to achieve the vision of “Viksit Bharat” and “Viksit Chhattisgarh.”
Referring to Gariaband’s significance, he described the district as a region known for its natural beauty, rich tribal heritage and religious importance. He highlighted prominent pilgrimage sites such as Rajim, often referred to as the “Prayagraj of Chhattisgarh,” along with the Rajiv Lochan Temple and Kuleshwar Mahadev Temple. The state government, he said, is continuously expanding facilities for devotees and tourists visiting these locations.
The Chief Minister also announced that an anicut project worth ₹7 crore on the Tel River has been approved to provide a permanent solution to the long-standing drinking water problem in the Supabeda region.
Discussing education, Sai said the new academic session began on June 16, and the School Admission Festival is being celebrated from June 16 to June 27. He appealed to public representatives and citizens to help bring out-of-school children into the education system.
Highlighting housing achievements, he said the state government approved 1.8 million Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana houses in its first Cabinet meeting. So far, 2.6 million houses have been sanctioned in the state, of which nearly 1.97 million have been completed, including more than one million houses constructed during the last two and a half years.
For women’s empowerment, the Chief Minister noted that the Mahtari Vandan Yojana is providing eligible women with ₹1,000 per month. Through 28 instalments, more than ₹18,165 crore has already been transferred directly into beneficiaries’ accounts.
Sai further stated that paddy is being procured from farmers at ₹3,100 per quintal, with additional support provided through the Krishak Unnati Yojana. He also announced that the remuneration for tendu leaf collectors has been increased from ₹4,000 to ₹5,500 per standard bag, benefiting lakhs of forest-dependent families. The Charan Paduka Scheme has also been revived.
The Chief Minister said that under the Jal Jeevan Mission, piped drinking water is now being supplied to more than 4.1 million households across the state. He also highlighted the launch of Atal Digital Service Centres in gram panchayats and a power subsidy initiative providing 50 percent discount on electricity bills for domestic consumers using up to 200 units per month.
Noting that Gariaband is a tribal-majority district with significant populations of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) such as the Kamar and Bhunjia communities, Sai said programmes like the PM Janman Yojana and Dharti Aaba Tribal Village Development Campaign are transforming these regions through investments in education, healthcare, housing, roads and livelihoods.
Expressing confidence in the newly launched projects, the Chief Minister said they would play a crucial role in taking Gariaband to new heights of development and prosperity.
Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister and district in-charge minister Dayaldas Baghel, Mahasamund MP Roopkumari Choudhary, and Rajim MLA Rohit Sahu also addressed the gathering.
Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam, Chhattisgarh State Warehousing Corporation Chairman Chandulal Sahu, District Panchayat President Gaurishankar Kashyap, along with several public representatives, officials and a large number of citizens, were present on the occasion.
