Innovative Farmers of Jashpur to Be Honoured; Cash Prizes of Up to ₹10,000 Announced for Mango and Jackfruit Competitions

Competitions to Be Held in Giant Mango, Giant Jackfruit and Excellence in Organic Farming Categories

Raipur, June 2026 : Progressive and innovative farmers from Jashpur district will be honoured during the Agricultural Exhibition and Farmers’ Felicitation Ceremony to be held during the visit of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai to Jashpur. The district administration and the Agriculture Department are organizing a series of competitions to recognize outstanding achievements in agriculture, horticulture and organic farming.

Farmers who excel in the competitions will receive cash awards, certificates of appreciation and commemorative mementoes.

According to information released by the Deputy Director of Agriculture, the objective of the competitions is to encourage progressive farmers, practitioners of organic and natural farming, and individuals introducing innovations in the agricultural sector.

Giant Mango Competition to Showcase Excellence in Horticulture

Under the Giant Mango Competition, entries will be judged on the basis of weight, quality and appearance. Farmers from across the district can participate by submitting mangoes grown in their orchards. The competition aims to highlight excellence in fruit cultivation and horticultural practices.

Giant Jackfruit Competition to Reward Superior Produce

A separate competition will be conducted to identify the largest and best-quality jackfruit produced in the district. Farmers can enter jackfruits grown in their fields or home gardens. The contest is intended to recognize high-quality production and encourage improved cultivation techniques.

Special Recognition for Excellence in Organic Farming

To promote sustainable agriculture, a special category titled “Outstanding Organic Farmer Award” has also been introduced. Farmers who have demonstrated excellence in organic and natural farming practices will be considered for this award.

The selection process will evaluate achievements in areas such as the use of organic inputs, agricultural innovation, marketing initiatives, orchard management, water conservation, integrated farming systems, adoption of drone technology and the use of modern agricultural machinery.

Cash Awards of Up to ₹10,000 in Each Category

In every competition category, the first-place winner will receive a cash prize of ₹10,000, while the second and third-place winners will be awarded ₹7,000 and ₹5,000, respectively. In addition to the cash awards, winners will be honoured with certificates and mementoes in recognition of their contributions to agriculture.

Application Process

Interested farmers can apply by submitting details including their name, village, development block, mobile number and the competition category in which they wish to participate. Applications may be submitted to the concerned Rural Agricultural Extension Officer, Senior Agricultural Development Officer or the Block Agriculture Office.

Selection Process

Winners will be selected by officials of the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments based on prescribed evaluation criteria. If required, field inspections and verification visits will also be conducted to assess the authenticity and quality of the entries.

The Deputy Director of Agriculture has appealed to farmers across Jashpur district to participate in large numbers and use the platform to showcase their achievements, innovations and best agricultural practices. The initiative is expected to encourage knowledge-sharing, promote sustainable farming methods and inspire greater innovation in the agricultural sector.
