Yogi govt to build bow-string girder bridge to improve connectivity in Sitapur

Lucknow : In its ongoing efforts to enhance road infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government has initiated preparations to advance the construction of a Bow-String Girder Bridge in Sitapur.

It is worth highlighting that the Bow-String Girder Bridge has been chosen for its distinctive design, superior quality, and faster construction time.

Recently, Rail Over Bridges (ROBs) utilizing this technology were built in Ayodhya and Prayagraj. The planned Bow-String Girder Bridge in Sitapur will serve as a Road Over Bridge (ROB) on the Tambaur to Mahmudabad road, spanning the Sharda Canal.

Aligned with CM Yogi’s vision, the Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation Limited has begun the process of selecting an agency and allocating work to move the project forward.
The project is set to be completed at a cost of Rs 22.86 crore. It involves the construction of a bridge over the Sharda Canal on the Tambaur to Mahmoodabad road, including the development of the substructure, superstructure, and connecting road.

This entire project is expected to be completed within 8 months, excluding the rainy season.

Since the Yogi government came to power in 2017, the Public Works Department has been undertaking various infrastructure projects across the state. These projects include the development of national highways, roads funded under the Central Road Fund Scheme, roads financed by loans from the World Bank, NABARD, and the Asian Bank, as well as the construction of block, nagar panchayat, and rural roads, including long and short bridges and Rail Over Bridges (ROBs).

In line with these efforts, 28,538 km of rural roads have been developed and newly constructed in the past 7 years under the Yogi government’s tenure. Additionally, work is progressing on the construction of 46 new national highways covering 4,115 km and 70 new state highways spanning 5,604 km.

Notably, during the tenure of the Yogi government, an average of 9 km of roads is being widened and strengthened each day, and one bridge is being constructed every two days. In the last 7 years, the government has also developed 2,503 km of state highways, 5,934 km of major district roads, and 13,849 km of other district roads.
