Passing out parade at Telangana Police Academy

Chief Minister Sri A Revanth Reddy participated in the passing out parade at Telangana Police Academy in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Telangana: The State Born from Sacrifice and Aspirations

The state of Telangana stands as a testament to the sacrifices made by the youth of this region. It was the determination of these young souls that finally led to the formation of Telangana as a separate state in 2014. However, despite the promise of a bright future, the aspirations of these youth remain unfulfilled even after nine long years. The current government recognizes the need to address this gap and is determined to set things right, acknowledging that these dreams must translate into tangible actions and outcomes.

The youth have waited with hope for opportunities to shape the future of this new state. It is a matter of great concern that the vision they held close to their hearts has not yet materialized fully. But the Congress government, led by CM Sri Revanth Reddy, aims to change this narrative, placing the aspirations of the youth at the forefront of their governance model. This is not just about job creation; it is about creating an ecosystem where young people can thrive, innovate, and contribute to the state’s growth.

Formation of a People’s Government and Job Creation Initiatives

Within just three months of coming to power, the Congress government took decisive action, filling 30,000 job vacancies. This is a reflection of the government’s commitment to the people who placed their trust in them. A people’s government, as described by CM Revanth Reddy, is one that listens to the needs and concerns of the citizens and acts upon them swiftly.

Employment is a critical area where the government has made significant strides. The strengthening of the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) ensures that future job recruitment processes are more transparent, efficient, and accessible to all. The decision to postpone the Group 2 exam, for instance, was taken with the welfare of the unemployed in mind. It demonstrates the government’s empathy towards job aspirants, understanding their preparation processes, and working to create an environment where they can succeed.

Youth Concerns: Drug Addiction and Cybercrime

One of the most pressing issues affecting the youth of Telangana today is the growing menace of drug addiction, especially with the increased availability of ganja (marijuana) and other narcotics. This epidemic threatens to derail the lives of many young people and damage the future of the state. CM Revanth Reddy has expressed deep concern over this issue, emphasizing that it is not just a law enforcement responsibility, but an emotional mission for him and his government.

The impact of drug addiction is not just personal; it has far-reaching societal consequences, including the rise of cybercrime. The government, under CM Revanth Reddy’s leadership, is committed to tackling both problems simultaneously. By eradicating the drug trade and its influence over the youth, the government aims to create a safer and more secure environment for the people of Telangana. The CM’s confidence in the state’s law enforcement agencies, especially the well-trained police force, signals a strong intent to make Telangana a drug-free state in the near future.

Policing and Security: A Vision for the Future

The safety and security of citizens are at the core of the government’s agenda. CM Revanth Reddy has outlined his vision of strengthening the police force, making them more responsive to the needs of the public while maintaining a strict stance against criminal activities. The government plans to establish residential police schools in Hyderabad and Warangal, providing high-quality education and training for the children of police personnel. This initiative reflects a long-term commitment to the welfare of the police force, which forms the backbone of law and order in the state.

At the same time, the Chief Minister stressed the need for “concrete policing” rather than “cosmetic policing.” The police are expected to be approachable and friendly to law-abiding citizens but firm and unrelenting when dealing with criminals. This dual approach ensures that while people feel safe and secure, those involved in illegal activities, especially drug-related crimes, will face the full force of the law.

Support for Farmers and Weavers: A Commitment to Rural Telangana

The government’s support for key sectors like agriculture, weaving, and toddy tapping is a reflection of its commitment to the grassroots economy of Telangana. The Congress government has already waived Rs 18,000 crore in farm loans, directly benefiting over 22.22 lakh farmers. This massive initiative, completed within just 28 days, is designed to bring relief to the agricultural community, which has long struggled under the burden of debt.

Beyond loan waivers, the government is actively mobilizing funds and clearing additional debts to ensure that farmers can lead dignified and prosperous lives. This policy of direct financial assistance to farmers highlights the government’s recognition of agriculture as the backbone of Telangana’s economy. Weavers and toddy tappers, two other significant rural professions, are also receiving due attention. By ensuring their livelihoods are safeguarded, the government is nurturing the traditional industries that have sustained Telangana for generations.

Addressing Urban Challenges: Floods and Illegal Encroachments

The state’s capital, Hyderabad, has become a hub for investment and economic growth, but with this progress comes new challenges. CM Revanth Reddy acknowledged the irresponsible comments made by some on the HYDRA (Hyderabad Regional Development Authority) and the growing problem of floods caused by the encroachment of lakes, ponds, and canals. The encroachments have led to the destruction of natural water bodies, causing floods that disproportionately affect the poor.

The government is determined to restore these water bodies and has taken a firm stance against illegal encroachments. CM Reddy has appealed to those who have illegally occupied these areas to vacate voluntarily, warning that the government will take strict action, including demolition of unauthorized structures, if necessary. The Musi Riverfront Development project is part of this broader plan to restore Hyderabad’s natural beauty and safeguard it from future floods. The government has promised to build double-bedroom houses for the 11,000 permanent residents affected by these developments, ensuring they are not left without shelter.

A Call for Collective Responsibility

The CM’s speech emphasized a collective responsibility for rebuilding Telangana. He urged citizens to join hands with the government in eradicating drug abuse, protecting the environment, and ensuring the prosperity of future generations. The people of Telangana must work together, recognizing that the future of the state depends on the actions taken today. CM Revanth Reddy’s government has laid out a clear and ambitious vision for the state, addressing both immediate challenges and long-term goals.

From strengthening law enforcement and ensuring youth employment to restoring the environment and supporting farmers, the government is committed to a multi-faceted approach to development. With the people’s continued support, Telangana is poised to become a model state, where economic progress, social justice, and environmental sustainability go hand in hand.
