MGNREGA Social Audit Continues in Serchhip District
Serchhip : The Mizoram Society for Social Audit and Transparency (MSSAT) Social Audit Unit, under the leadership of Director C. Laltleipuii, conducted audits today in the villages of East Lungdar, Leng, Chekawn, and Khawlailung to assess the implementation of MGNREGA projects.
The purpose of these audits is to ensure that MGNREGA work is carried out properly and transparently. In Serchhip District, audits are scheduled to take place in 18 villages from September 9 to 24. Today, Director C. Laltleipuii and her team inspected the use of funds and the progress of MGNREGA projects in East Lungdar, Leng, Chekawn, and Khawlailung. BDO Dr. Peter Malsawmtluanga warmly welcomed the Director during her visit.
In an effort to enhance community participation in social audits, the government has emphasized the importance of including more local groups in the process. The Social Audit Unit has collaborated with various voluntary organizations such as the YMA, MHIP, MUP, and others to carry out these audits. Representatives from the YMA sub-headquarters in Serchhip were also involved in today’s audits.
Serchhip DC Paul L. Khuma, serving as the District Programme Coordinator, spoke about the importance of social audits and emphasized the need for community participation. He highlighted that the government is committed to rural development, especially in forested areas. He also stressed the significance of ensuring transparency and accountability in the implementation of MGNREGA projects to provide sustainable livelihoods for families. He urged organizations like YMA, MHIP, and MUP to continue supporting the audit teams and encouraged them to take part in the process with full dedication.
