Rajasthan Housing Board Takes Major Action Against Encroachment, Frees 42 Bigha 10 Biswa of High-Value Land
Jaipur, May 2026 : In compliance with the orders of the Hon’ble High Court, Jaipur, the Rajasthan Housing Board carried out a major and decisive operation to remove encroachments and regain possession of 42 bigha 10 biswa of high-value acquired land located in Krishna Kunj on Tonk Road, B-2 Bypass, and the villages of Chainpura and Durgapura.
Under the leadership of Board Secretary Shri Gopal Singh Shekhawat and with the support of the police administration, the large-scale operation led to the removal of illegal encroachments from the site. The Board also installed official property signage marking the land as government-owned.
Shri Shekhawat informed that the land in question includes Khasra numbers 7, 15 to 24, and 26 to 31 in village Chainpura, and Khasra numbers 265 to 270 in Durgapura, collectively totaling 42 bigha 10 biswa of acquired land belonging to the Rajasthan Housing Board.
The acquisition notification for this land was issued on 10 January 1990, and after the award was passed by the Urban Development and Housing Department of the Government of Rajasthan on 5 December 1991, the Housing Board had legally taken possession of the land.
However, despite this, the recorded landowners allegedly transferred the land through illegal agreements to the Jawahar Grih Nirman Sahkari Samiti. The society later issued unauthorized plots under the name “Shri Ram Colony.”
In this matter, the Single Bench of the Hon’ble High Court accepted the Rajasthan Housing Board’s writ petition (No. 15576/2019) on 9 April 2026, dismissing the petitions filed by Shri Ram Colony and other parties, and declaring the agreements executed by the society as null and void.
Although appeals were initially granted a stay order, the Division Bench of the Hon’ble High Court later, in its order dated 18 May 2026, vacated the stay in view of the circumstances, allowing the removal of encroachments. Following this, the Housing Board swiftly carried out the action and reclaimed the land.
On this occasion, Chief Engineer Shri Amit Agrawal, Chief Estate Manager Shri Ashok Kumar, all Deputy Housing Commissioners, Housing Engineers, Senior Legal Officers, Rajasthan Housing Board Employees Union President Shri Gohan Singh, General Secretary Shri Ramesh Sharma, Senior Vice President Shri Govind Natani, along with officers and staff from Jaipur offices were present.
