Maharashtra State Tourism Development Corporation Organizes Programs for World Tourism Day

Mumbai : The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) will celebrate World Tourism Day 2024 on September 27. This year’s theme, announced by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), is “Tourism & Peace.” Manoj Kumar Suryavanshi, Manager of MTDC, has announced that various activities, including seminars, painting, and essay competitions, will be organized across all regional offices of MTDC under the theme of ‘Tourism and Peace’.

World Tourism Day 2024 will be celebrated in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. In Maharashtra, the Union Ministry of Tourism and the State Tourism Department will host a range of activities to mark the occasion. Regional offices of MTDC, along with tourist accommodations, restaurants, boat clubs, and cultural centers, will conduct various tourism-related events until September 27, 2024.

Seminars featuring prominent personalities, tourism experts, and professionals will be held. Additionally, essay competitions will be organized at each regional level with topics including “Tourism: A Tool for Building Peace,” “Tourism and World Peace,” “Tourist Destinations of Maharashtra and Their Message of Peace,” “Tourism of My Dreams,” and “India and Tourism: Ambassadors and Symbols of Peace.” A painting competition for school and college students will also take place, themed around ‘Tourism and Peace’.

Prizes for the competitions include:

• 1st Prize: 2 nights and 3 days accommodation for 2 persons at a tourist accommodation, plus a certificate and memento.
• 2nd Prize: 1 night and 2 days accommodation for 2 persons, plus a certificate and memento.
• 3rd Prize: 1 day accommodation for 2 persons, plus lunch, a certificate, and a souvenir.

Brochures will be published in tourist accommodations, and Suryavanshi has encouraged organizing treks, jungle trails, and nature walks in safe and eco-friendly locations to enhance experiential tourism.
