Chief Minister’s Visit to Chungtlang Zau Lo Zawh Festival

Aizawl : Yesterday, the Tourism Department, in collaboration with tour operator Evergreen Tours & Travels and the Chungtlang Lo Zawh Organizing Committee, organized the Chungtlang Zau Lo Zawh Festival, which was attended by Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma. The event also saw the presence of Pu Lalthansanga, Minister for Land Resources, Soil & Water Conservation; Pu PC Vanlalruata, Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare; Pi Lalrinpuii, Minister for Tourism; and Pu Lalmuanpuia Punte, Adviser to the Chief Minister, along with other officials.

During his address, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of rubber cultivation and announced that the Chief Minister Rubber Missions program will be implemented to support rubber farmers. He emphasized that the government is committed to improving the living conditions of the people and enhancing agricultural productivity. The Handholding Scheme, a flagship program, will be in effect this year, with additional support under the Chief Minister Special Scheme. The government is working to address various issues related to loan accessibility, with provisions for lower interest rates and government guarantees.

The Chief Minister also noted that the government is focused on providing substantial support to the agricultural sector, including the introduction of a support price for various crops. He urged citizens to make the most of these schemes to improve their livelihoods.

Ministerial and advisory support for the Chief Minister’s initiatives was also discussed. Pu Vanlalpeka, VCP of Chungtlang and Organizing Chairman of the Lo Zawh Festival, expressed gratitude to the Tourism Department, Evergreen Tours & Travels, and other departments for their efforts in organizing the festival.

Chungtlang, located in Mamit district and Reiek, is home to around 100 households. The area has significant rubber cultivation, with about 50,000 rubber trees. Chungtlang is recognized as the leading rubber cluster in Mizoram. Currently, 70 households are actively engaged in rubber cultivation.
