State Human Rights Commission Chairman Justice K. K. Tated Visits Police Station, Reformatory, and Jail

Jalgaon : Encouraging children in remand homes to engage in activities like rangoli, painting, and drumming is a way of channeling their energy in a positive direction, fostering their artistic talents. This innovative approach by the district administration deserves special appreciation, said State Human Rights Commission Chairman Justice K. K. Tated.

Justice Tated conducted an inspection of the District Peth Police Station, the Remand Home, and the District Jail as part of his visit today.

Visit to the Police Station

During his visit to the District Police Station, he inspected the male and female detainees’ barracks and reviewed the basic facilities provided to them. He also emphasized the need for enhanced security for female detainees. Justice Tated inspected the station’s record books, including the criminal record book. He was accompanied by District Police Superintendent Dr. Maheshwar Reddy.

Visit to the Reformatory

At the Children’s Correctional Home, Justice Tated interacted with the children, asking about their meals and living conditions. He also inquired about their educational activities and other skill-based training they were receiving. He visited the girls’ kitchen to check on the breakfast they had been served. During this visit, he observed the children’s paintings and gardening efforts and watched them play drums. Justice Tated praised the district administration for paying special attention to these children and providing them with such facilities.

Visit to the Jail

During his visit to the District Jail, Justice Tated inspected the women’s section to ensure they were receiving the necessary facilities. He visited the kitchen to check the food quality and met with male prisoners to inquire if they had any complaints. He directed the jail administration to ensure that prisoners can communicate with their family members as per the regulations. Justice Tated also inspected the healthcare services provided to the prisoners and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements.

Post-Inspection Review Meeting

After the inspection, Collector Ayush Prasad held a review meeting with officials from various departments at the Planning Bhavan in the Collector’s office.

Fifteen issues related to human rights were presented during the meeting. The Collector provided updates on the progress made in areas such as policing, social justice, disability services, welfare for marginalized communities, healthcare, women and child welfare, senior citizen care, and support for sex workers.

District Superintendent of Police Dr. Maheshwar Reddy, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Shri Ankit, Municipal Commissioner Dnyaneshwar Dhere, Additional Collector Ankush Pinate, and officials from various departments were also present.
