Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Inaugurates Maharashtra Legislature’s Digital Dashboard

A Major Milestone in the Digital Transformation of the State Legislature

Mumbai, July 2026 : In a significant step towards enhancing transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the functioning of the Maharashtra Legislature, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday inaugurated a state-of-the-art Digital Dashboard developed to facilitate real-time monitoring of pending parliamentary business.

The dashboard will enable instant tracking of the status of Starred Questions, Unstarred Questions, Calling Attention Notices, Half-Hour Discussion Notices, Special Mentions, Points of Propriety, and other parliamentary instruments. It is expected to strengthen coordination between the State Government and the Legislature while ensuring timely responses to legislative business.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the Vidhan Bhavan in the presence of Legislative Council Chairman Prof. Ram Shinde, Legislative Assembly Speaker Adv. Rahul Narwekar, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandrakant Patil, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council Sachin Ahir, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Anna Bansode, and Legislature Secretariat officials including Secretary-1 Jitendra Bhole, Secretary-3 Vilas Athawale, and Secretary-4 Shivdarshan Sathye.

Real-Time Digital Monitoring

On the occasion, Legislature Secretary Jitendra Bhole presented an overview of the dashboard and highlighted the Legislature’s journey toward digital transformation and computerisation.

He recalled that in July 2022, a decision was taken to make both Houses of the Maharashtra Legislature completely digital. As part of this initiative, every member’s desk has been equipped with an advanced multimedia conference system, allowing legislators to access the daily agenda, Legislature website, and relevant online reference material directly during House proceedings.

Bhole also informed that work is underway to provide one-click access to the Legislature’s library resources from within the House, making research and legislative references more convenient for members.

Digitisation of Historical Records

The Legislature has also made significant progress in preserving its historical records through digitisation.

Proceedings dating back to 1937 have been digitised, while audiovisual recordings of House proceedings from 2013 onwards have also been digitally archived. This initiative will make valuable parliamentary records easily accessible to legislators, researchers, and government officials.

Digital Access to Legislative Documents

The Legislature is also creating digital versions of several important official documents, including:

  • Gazettes
  • Bills
  • Budget publications
  • Governor’s Addresses
  • Committee reports
  • Inquiry committee reports
  • Reports of government corporations and universities
  • Election-related decisions
  • Government schemes and policies
  • Members’ profiles
  • Important judicial decisions

These digital resources are expected to significantly improve access to legislative information.

Expansion of E-Office System

The digital transformation gained further momentum in December 2024, when the e-Office system was first introduced in the office of the Legislative Council Chairman. It has since been implemented across the entire Legislature Secretariat, with most administrative work now being carried out electronically.

The e-Office platform has also improved coordination between the Legislature, the State Secretariat (Mantralaya), regional offices, and various legislative committees.

Officials announced that additional digital platforms, including e-HRMS, Mahapar, and e-RTI, will be integrated into the Legislature’s administrative ecosystem in the coming months.

End of Paper-Based Tracking

The newly launched Digital Dashboard will replace the conventional paper-based system used for tracking parliamentary instruments.

Through the dashboard, users will be able to monitor the current status of parliamentary business, identify pending matters, and access department-wise updates in real time.

The platform will also support the functioning of the Committee on “Papers Laid on the Table of the House,” making its work more efficient and transparent.

Improved Accountability

The dashboard will enable the Chief Secretary and secretaries of various government departments to monitor pending parliamentary matters related to their respective departments online. This is expected to speed up the submission of replies and improve the government’s responsiveness to legislative business.

Officials said the initiative would strengthen the government’s accountability towards the Legislature while ensuring faster and more efficient handling of parliamentary work.

The digital dashboard marks another important milestone in the Maharashtra Legislature’s ongoing modernisation programme. It is expected to make legislative proceedings more transparent, technology-driven, and effective, while reinforcing good governance and improving coordination between the executive and the Legislature.
