Opposition Has No Right to Comment on Ram Temple, Says Acharya Pramod Krishnam
Moradabad, July 2026 : Spiritual leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam on Saturday launched a sharp attack on opposition parties, asserting that they have no moral right to speak about the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple as they never supported the movement for its construction. He also accused the opposition of attempting to exploit the Ram Temple issue to divide Hindus ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Speaking to IANS, Acharya Pramod Krishnam said the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple is a matter of faith for millions of Hindus and those who opposed its construction should refrain from making political comments on the issue.
“Only Hindus have the right to speak about the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple and Lord Shri Ram. The opposition has no right to comment on the Ram Temple because it never stood with those who fought for its construction,” he said.
The spiritual leader alleged that parties such as the Congress and the Samajwadi Party were attempting to revive the Ram Temple issue for electoral gains before the 2027 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. According to him, these parties are trying to mislead the Hindu community and create divisions within society for political benefit.
“Whether it is the Congress, the Samajwadi Party or the entire opposition, they are trying to use the Ram Temple issue to win the 2027 elections by misleading Hindus and dividing them. They know that if Hindus remain united, it will become difficult for them to achieve electoral success,” he remarked.
Responding to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s recent statement alleging that previous governments had planned attacks on temples, Acharya Pramod Krishnam backed the Chief Minister’s remarks. He claimed that attempts to target temples had become a pattern under earlier administrations and accused the Samajwadi Party of pursuing divisive politics.
“As elections draw closer in Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party believes it can gain by creating divisions among Hindus. Attacking temples has been its habit, and therefore whatever the Chief Minister has said is correct,” he stated.
The spiritual leader also took aim at Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav over his recent remarks equating Sanatan Dharma with socialism. Rejecting the comparison, Acharya Pramod Krishnam questioned Akhilesh Yadav’s commitment to socialist ideals and drew a political analogy to underline his point.
“Akhilesh Yadav has nothing to do with the ideals of socialism. The relationship between Ram Manohar Lohia and Akhilesh Yadav is similar to the relationship between Mahatma Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi,” he said.
Commenting on the Union Home Ministry’s reported guidelines relating to the use of the slogan ‘Vande Mataram’, Acharya Pramod Krishnam described the phrase as an integral part of India’s freedom movement and national identity.
“‘Vande Mataram’ is the voice of India’s soul. It inspired countless freedom fighters during the struggle for Independence. Every Indian who believes in the nation should proudly say ‘Vande Mataram’. Any initiative by the Home Ministry that strengthens patriotism and the spirit of Indianness should be welcomed,” he said.
Acharya Pramod Krishnam also reacted strongly to controversial remarks allegedly made by All India Imam Association President Sajid Rashidi, saying that Islam teaches respect for women and that such comments were contrary to its values.
“Islam teaches respect for women, but Maulana Rashidi appears unaware of those teachings. He should first understand the true values of Islam before making such statements. A person may appear to be a religious scholar, but if he does not uphold the principles of respect and dignity, he cannot claim to represent the true spirit of the religion,” he said.
On the issue of including non-Muslims in Waqf Committees, the spiritual leader said that any statutory board established under the Constitution belongs to the nation as a whole. He maintained that every Indian citizen has an equal right to serve on constitutional bodies, irrespective of religion.
“Any board constituted under the Constitution of India belongs to the country. Every Indian has the right to be a part of and contribute to such institutions,” Acharya Pramod Krishnam said, reiterating his support for inclusive participation in public bodies.
