Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 Series Sets New India Pre-Order Record with 2.71 Lakh Bookings in 72 Hours

New Delhi, July 2026 : Samsung’s latest generation of foldable smartphones has created a new benchmark in the Indian premium smartphone market, with the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 registering record-breaking pre-orders within just three days of their launch. The company announced on Wednesday that the new foldable lineup received more than 2.71 lakh pre-orders in the first 72 hours, highlighting the rapidly growing popularity of foldable smartphones among Indian consumers.

The latest figures mark a significant improvement over last year’s performance. Samsung India revealed that it had taken nearly 15 days for the previous generation, comprising the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, to achieve a similar number of pre-orders. The sharp rise in demand indicates that foldable smartphones are steadily moving into the mainstream, driven by advancements in design, performance and artificial intelligence.

One of the most striking trends in the pre-order data is the strong response from smaller cities. According to Samsung, 45 per cent of the bookings came from Tier-2 cities and beyond, reflecting the expanding appetite for premium technology outside India’s major metropolitan centres.

The company believes this growing demand from emerging markets demonstrates that innovation is now being embraced across the country rather than remaining concentrated in urban hubs. The trend also points to substantial growth opportunities for premium smartphones in India’s smaller cities.

Buoyed by the overwhelming response, Samsung expects the Galaxy Z Fold8 series to match the strong pre-order performance recorded by its flagship Galaxy S26 series, launched earlier this year. The company sees this as evidence that foldable devices are becoming a preferred choice for consumers seeking premium smartphones with advanced productivity and entertainment features.

Commenting on the milestone, JB Park, President and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, said the response reflects Indian consumers’ growing preference for innovative technologies that enhance productivity and creativity.

He noted that the new Galaxy Z series offers personalised Galaxy AI experiences while also being manufactured in India and supported by the company’s extensive Indian research and development capabilities, ensuring products are tailored to the evolving needs of domestic consumers.

Samsung also highlighted the design improvements introduced with the Galaxy Z Fold8. The smartphone has been engineered to provide a seamless experience for users who frequently switch between entertainment, work and communication throughout the day.

Its 10:16 cover display delivers a familiar smartphone interface for messaging, web browsing and viewing short-form videos, while the expansive 4:3 foldable main display transforms into a larger workspace suited for reading, gaming, streaming content and multitasking. When rotated, the screen provides an enhanced layout for reading articles, digital magazines and e-books, making it suitable for both productivity and leisure.

With record-breaking pre-orders, expanding demand beyond metropolitan markets and growing consumer acceptance of foldable technology, Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z series has reinforced the company’s leadership in India’s premium smartphone segment while signalling that foldable devices are rapidly becoming a mainstream choice for users across the country.
