Sunita Tools Signs MoU with Polish Defence Firm to Develop Drones, Loitering Munitions

New Delhi, July 2026 : Sunita Tools Ltd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a Polish defence company to collaborate on the research, design, development and manufacture of advanced unmanned defence systems, including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) drones, loitering munitions and smart drone ammunition.

Under the proposed partnership, the two companies plan to establish a joint venture in India, with Sunita Tools holding a majority stake. The formation of the joint venture will be subject to the execution of definitive agreements as well as necessary regulatory and statutory approvals.

As part of the proposed arrangement, Sunita Tools will serve as the development, manufacturing, marketing and distribution partner for the jointly agreed products in India, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the wider Indian subcontinent. The company will also have the right to market the products in other international markets, subject to mutual agreement between the two partners.

The collaboration is expected to combine the Polish company’s expertise in defence technology and product development with Sunita Tools’ manufacturing capabilities, infrastructure and established market reach. The companies aim to develop advanced unmanned systems and precision technologies that can meet both regional and international defence requirements.

The two sides also intend to explore opportunities in defence procurement programmes and strategic partnerships with Indian defence industry players. Any such initiatives will be undertaken in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and government requirements.

The MoU will remain valid for five years, unless terminated earlier in accordance with its terms.

Sanjay Pandey, Chairman and Whole Time Director of Sunita Tools, said the proposed collaboration is aligned with the company’s long-term strategy of expanding its presence in advanced defence technologies and strengthening indigenous manufacturing capabilities.

The partnership is also expected to support the government’s Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives by facilitating greater domestic production of sophisticated unmanned defence systems and related technologies.

Sunita Tools clarified that the signing of the MoU does not have any immediate financial impact on the company. It added that any material developments arising from the agreement, including definitive contracts or other significant arrangements, will be disclosed to the stock exchanges in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

The proposed collaboration comes amid growing interest among Indian defence companies in international technology partnerships aimed at expanding domestic capabilities in unmanned systems, precision weapons and battlefield surveillance.

ISR drones and loitering munitions have gained increasing importance in modern military operations, with applications ranging from battlefield intelligence and border surveillance to tactical targeting and precision strike missions. The partnership could therefore provide Sunita Tools with an opportunity to strengthen its position in India’s expanding unmanned defence technology ecosystem.
