Indian Railways Approves New Daily Express Service Between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Sawantwadi Road

510-km Daily Express to Improve Rail Connectivity Across Maharashtra, Providing Direct Access to Mumbai, Thane, Panvel, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Other Key Stations Along the Konkan Coast

New Service to Benefit Tourism, Business, Education and Regional Mobility While Strengthening Rail Connectivity Across the Konkan Region

In a major boost to passenger connectivity in Maharashtra and the Konkan region, Indian Railways has approved the introduction of a new daily Express train service between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (Mumbai) and Sawantwadi Road. The new service will provide direct, convenient and reliable rail connectivity across the 510-km route, benefiting thousands of passengers travelling for tourism, education, employment, business and social purposes.

The proposed train will operate daily as Train No. 15087 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus-Sawantwadi Road Express and Train No. 15088 Sawantwadi Road-Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Express.

Extensive Connectivity Across the Konkan Region

The new daily Express service will provide commercial stoppages at:

  • Roha
  • Mangaon
  • Veer
  • Khed
  • Chiplun
  • Savarda
  • Aravali Road
  • Sangameshwar Road
  • Ratnagiri
  • Adavali
  • Valivade
  • Rajapur Road
  • Vaibhavwadi Road
  • Nandgaon Road
  • Kankavli
  • Sindhudurg
  • Kudal
  • Sawantwadi Road

The train will offer seamless connectivity between Mumbai Metropolitan Region and important towns & districts, significantly improving accessibility to the Konkan coast.

Boost to Tourism, Economy and Passenger Convenience

The introduction of this new service will strengthen rail connectivity between Mumbai and southern Konkan, making travel easier for tourists visiting the region’s beaches, forts, temples and eco-tourism destinations. The service will also benefit daily commuters, students, traders, small businesses and residents by providing an additional direct rail option between Mumbai and the Konkan region.
