Trump Says US Pauses Planned Iran Strike as ‘Framework’ for Deal Emerges

Washington, Aug 2026 : US President Donald Trump said Sunday that Washington had agreed to suspend a planned military attack on Iran after Tehran and several Middle Eastern countries urged a pause, claiming that the broad framework of a possible agreement had been reached.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the United States remained fully prepared to launch military action but had decided to hold back temporarily to provide an opportunity for diplomacy. He warned, however, that the US military was maintaining a high level of readiness.

“The U.S.A. is locked and loaded and ready to go against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Trump wrote, asserting that American military power was prepared to respond at an unprecedented level.

Trump said Iran and other Middle Eastern nations had asked Washington to delay the planned operation because the “perimeters of a deal” had been agreed upon. He did not provide details about the negotiations or identify the countries involved in the diplomatic efforts.

According to Trump, any potential agreement would require the “Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT” and an end to what he described as Iran’s nuclear threat.

“Based on this request, I have agreed, for the future benefit of the WORLD and, likewise, the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to cancel the attack, subject to being able to rapidly make a DEAL,” Trump said.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important energy corridors, carrying a significant portion of global oil and gas shipments. Any prolonged disruption to the waterway could have major consequences for international energy markets and global trade.

Trump also claimed that Israel had agreed to support the diplomatic initiative. “The Country of Israel joins me in this commitment. Get to work, everybody, and get it DONE,” he said.

However, the US President did not disclose the proposed agreement’s specific terms, timeline or negotiating mechanism. There was also no immediate confirmation from Tehran or Jerusalem regarding Trump’s account of the diplomatic developments.
