Sammul Baloch Speaks at UN Human Rights Council: Condemns Human Rights Violations in Balochistan
During the 57th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Sammul Baloch, representing the Baloch National Movement, strongly condemned Pakistan for its severe human rights abuses in Balochistan. She highlighted the widespread issue of enforced disappearances, with thousands of Baloch citizens abducted by Pakistan’s security forces.
According to Paank, a Baloch human rights organization, between January and June 2024, 269 individuals were abducted, 25 were killed extrajudicially, and 160 were subjected to torture. These actions are part of a broader campaign against dissent, targeting both political activists and civilians.
Sammul Baloch criticized the lack of international attention and response to these violations and urged the United Nations and the global community to hold Pakistan accountable. She called for a resolution in support of a free and sovereign Baloch state and emphasized the urgent need for international intervention to protect the Baloch people.
