Meeting on Announcements and Implementations Related to Welfare Schemes
The Honorable Minister for Welfare for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Backward Classes, Mr. C.V. Samayanathan, held a meeting to review the announcements and implementations made in the welfare sector for backward classes, particularly for the Most Backward Classes and the Minorities, in light of the recent announcements made by the department.
On October 7, 2024, senior officials from the department gathered at the Secretariat to discuss the welfare announcements and their implementation for the financial year 2024-25. Under the guidance of the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. M.K. Stalin, the Minister Mr. C.V. Samayanathan and other officials discussed various welfare schemes for the backward classes, Most Backward Classes, and minorities.
The meeting reviewed the department’s activities, including scholarships for students in 11th grade, the establishment of model schools and colleges under the department, and the distribution of educational assistance to various groups. Special attention was given to the assistance programs being implemented by the Tamil Nadu Backward Classes Economic Development Corporation to ensure they are executed appropriately.
The Minister emphasized that all programs for the welfare of backward classes, Most Backward Classes, and minorities must be carried out without any deviation from the government’s directives. The officials were instructed to maintain the hostels in good condition and to ensure a conducive environment for the students residing there.
During the review meeting, the Government Principal Secretary for Welfare for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Backward Classes, Mr. Vijay Rajkumar, and the Additional Secretary, Mr. C. Sudarshan Kumar, along with the Director of the Tamil Nadu Backward Classes Economic Development Corporation, Mr. D.N. Chengalvarayan, and other officials participated in the discussions.
