Lunglei Celebrates International Day Of The Girl Child, 2024 With Competitions And Jingles
The District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) and the District Programme Officer (DPO) Office, under the Women & Child Development (WCD) Department, organized a celebration for International Day of the Girl Child, 2024, including a competition for jingles at the DC Conference Hall.
The event was inaugurated by Lunglei Additional Deputy Commissioner Pu James Miahlung, who emphasized the importance of empowering young girls and highlighted the vital role they play in community development. He expressed the need for focused efforts to address the challenges faced by girls in the community, encouraging participants to pursue their dreams and aspirations.
Lunglei DPO (WCD) Pu C. Lalnunfela shared insights into various activities planned for the International Day of the Girl Child, 2024, and acknowledged the significance of such events in promoting awareness and fostering support for young girls. Pu James Miahlung mentioned that the jingles competition is a unique initiative aimed at engaging the youth creatively.
The winners of the jingles competition were:
- K. Lalnunpuii, Class IX, Serkawn Sikulpui (₹5,500/-)
- Government Leitlangpui High School (₹3,500/-)
- B. Lalremruati, Class IX, Government Venglai High School (₹2,500/-)
Consolation prizes were awarded to:
- Vanlalhriati, Class IX, Govt Venglai High School
- Ruthi Lalzarmawii, Class VIII, Holy Faith English School
All participants received a participation prize as well.
