Yogi govt empowers 76,000 KGBV girls with guide training
Lucknow : In a significant step towards empowering girls from educationally backward regions, the Yogi government has initiated guide training programs under its flagship Mission Shakti.
The initiative aims to secure the future of girls studying in Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls Schools by equipping them with essential skills through guide training.
More than 76,000 girls participated in the three-day residential training held from October 3 to 10.
This initiative opens new doors for these girls, offering them an advantage in their pursuit of higher education and career opportunities.

The training provides participants with additional weightage in programs like B.Ed and D.El.Ed, enhancing their chances of academic success.
Furthermore, the training offers them preferential consideration in recruitment processes for Scout/Guiding positions in the Road Transport and Railways sectors, creating pathways for future employment.
Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh announced that guide training programs have been successfully conducted in 746 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) across Uttar Pradesh.

A total of 2,238 guide units were set up in these schools, through which the Yogi government has completed guide training for 76,000 girls. This training will benefit the girls by not only giving them extra points in education, but also improving their chances of getting jobs.
To ensure the girls received the training quickly, special efforts were made under the direction of the minister. Each KGBV registered three guide units, with 32 girls in each group. The aim was to make the girls confident, self-reliant, and empowered by offering easy-to-understand training.
During the program, the girls learned about the rules, pledge, and principles of scouting and guiding.
They were also trained in useful skills like tying knots, using first aid boxes, and applying triangular bandages. At night, campfires were held where they learned outdoor cooking and survival skills for emergencies.
This training will help in the physical, mental, and intellectual growth of the girls, while also opening up new educational and job opportunities. For instance, the girls will receive extra marks for B.Ed and D.El.Ed admissions and will be given priority in Scout Guiding jobs in Road Transport and Railways. These programs will boost the girls’ confidence and empower them to make a positive impact in society.
The preparations for this training began in June. Between June 24 and 30, selected female teachers from each division were trained as Guide Captains during a seven-day residential camp.
