‘Heart Conclave 2024’: Effective Measures for Prevention and Treatment of Heart Disease Needed — Governor
Governor Shri Haribhau Bagde emphasized that the medical profession is not a business but the most sacred form of service. He urged doctors to focus on treating their patients with minimal medication and affordable, accessible healthcare. He also stressed the importance of spreading awareness about the prevention and treatment of heart disease.
The Governor was speaking on Saturday at the ‘Heart Conclave 2024,’ organized by Eternal Hospital in collaboration with Sinai Hospital, New York. He highlighted that heart disease is currently emerging as one of the most prevalent health issues, affecting people of all ages. He called for ongoing efforts to prevent the condition and save lives when it occurs.
Citing the World Health Organization’s report, Shri Bagde noted that out of 17.9 million heart disease-related deaths worldwide, at least one-fifth occur in India. He expressed concern over the high number of deaths among young people, calling it alarming.
He also emphasized the need to create an environment conducive to the early detection and prevention of heart disease. Shri Bagde called for efforts to promote a basic understanding of heart health and preventive measures within society.
The Governor advocated for integrating yoga, Indian cultural practices, and physical exercise into the lifestyle of the younger generation. He also underscored the importance of creating healthy work environments and educating doctors on immediate precautions to be taken when heart disease symptoms appear.
