200 kg of ganja worth Rs.20 lakh smuggled from Andhra Pradesh toChennai seized

Enforcement Bureau, CID, Tamil Nadu is taking all out efforts to control prevalence of narcotic drugs in the State. In a major operation, on 17th October, 2024the Central Intelligence Unit, Chennai Range Inspector Tmt. Anbarasi and team apprehended 4 interstate Ganja smugglers and seized 200Kgs of Ganja worth about Rs.20,00,000/-.

The team also seized mini load carrier Force Trax AP 39 UH 5461 and a car (Honda Amaze) bearing registration number AP 21 UH 5461 from the accused. Raju @ Mohanraj, Shanmuganathan @ Prabu, Balamurugan of Andhrapradesh are brothers who transported Ganja from Andhrapradesh and sold it in Tamil Nadu. Senthilnathan was the driver of the Honda Amaze car which was escorting the load vehicle carrying Ganja.

All the 4 accused have been arrested and the case is under investigation. The Central Intelligence Unit, Chennai team, following a tip-off intercepted the vehicle carrying banana load near Elavur Check Post, Tiruvallur. On searching the vehicle the Police found 10 parcels of Ganja weighing 100 Kgs. The team also found a secret chamber in the vehicle and seized another 10 parcels weighing 100 Kgs.

The operation was supervised by Tmt.V.Shyamala Devi, Superintendent of Police, Central Intelligence Unit, Chennai and Tr.N.M.Mylvahanan, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Enforcement, Chennai. The Director General of Police/HoPF Tr.ShankarJiwal, IPS., and ADGP Enforcement Bureau CID Dr.A.Amalraj, IPS, appreciated the successful conduct of operation by the CIU officers.
