Bhupendra Patel Presents Appointment Letters to Newly Appointed Engineers from Various Companies in the Energy Department
Gandhinagar : Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel presented appointment letters to 394 newly appointed junior engineers in four power distribution companies of the State Energy Department, in the presence of Energy Minister Shri Kanubhai Desai, at an event held in Gandhinagar.
At the event, the Chief Minister stated that the skills of these young engineers would enhance the energy sector in the state. He emphasized that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has created a transparent recruitment system, enabling even the smallest and most marginally qualified candidates to easily pursue government job opportunities. The Chief Minister also highlighted the transformative influence of visionary leadership in the energy sector, citing successful initiatives such as Jyotigram Yojana, Solar Park, Solar Rooftop, Kisan Suryoday Yojana, and PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana initiated by Shri Narendra Modi. The Chief Minister encouraged the newly appointed young engineers, by emphasizing their opportunity to serve the public by addressing essential needs such as electricity. The CM remarked that this opportunity should extend beyond the operational scope of their power company. He praised the entire energy team for prioritizing national and state interests, noting how energy workers risk their lives in challenging conditions like storms, heavy rains, and floods to ensure continuous electricity into people’s homes. Shri Bhupendra Patel stated that Gujarat’s vibrancy is a result of the professionalism and dedication to public service demonstrated by such a team. The CM urged everyone to unite in building a Viksit and Urjavan Gujarat for a Viksit Bharat by 2047 while congratulating the newly appointed engineers. During the event, the Chief Minister inaugurated the newly built Atkot Sub-Division Office of PGVCL, the Wajdi Training Center of GETCO in Rajkot, the New Renewable Energy Management Building of SLDC, and seven new substations of GETCO. He also launched the E-CGRF portal and GUVNL’s “Urja Samvad” magazine and booklet.
Praising the dedicated efforts of Gujarat’s electricity workers, Energy Minister Shri Kanubhai Desai stated that the state has become dynamic with a 24-hour electricity supply. He acknowledged that, even during emergencies such as storms and heavy rains, electricity workers persevered, restoring power to citizens’ homes within just 24 to 36 hours. While congratulating the newly appointed engineers, the energy Minister stated that they have a significant opportunity to serve the country effectively. He noted that the four power distribution companies in Gujarat have achieved an A-plus grade for their performance and expressed his hope that all new employees would maintain this standard through their commitment. The Energy Minister further stated that, in the future, the Energy Department aims to enhance the quality of electricity and mitigate risks during emergencies, following Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel’s guidance to underground all cabling lines within 50 to 60 kilometers of the coastline. The Energy Minister informed that work is progressing swiftly to fulfil the Chief Minister’s commitment to providing daytime electricity to the state’s farmers. With 90% of the villages having completed the necessary work, he conveyed that the remaining tasks would be accomplished by next December.
Chief Secretary Shri Raj Kumar congratulated the newly appointed junior engineers and emphasised that electricity is an essential need for citizens today. He remarked that all electricity workers must ensure an uninterrupted power supply to every resident of the state. The Chief Secretary also mentioned that the 16th Finance Commission, which recently visited Gujarat, praised the state’s power sector. He highlighted the importance of the youth focusing on the renewable energy sector in the future, particularly in light of challenges such as global warming.
At the beginning of the program, Shri S.J. Haider, Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Energy and Petrochemicals, welcomed the newly appointed junior engineers to the Department of Energy. The vote of thanks was presented by Shri Jaiprakash Shivahare, Managing Director of GUVNL. The event was attended by Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Smt. Miraben Patel, senior officials and employees of the Energy Department, employees of GUVNL-affiliated power companies, and newly appointed candidates along with their families.
