Thane : In preparation for the upcoming assembly elections, vehicles are undergoing thorough inspections across Thane district. In a joint operation conducted by the Bharari Squad and Narpoli Police at Bhiwandi West, a suspect vehicle was intercepted, and unaccounted cash amounting to Rs. 3,31,609 was discovered. Additionally, bills for silver and silver-worked items found in the vehicle were not presented during the inspection, leading to the seizure of these goods by the Bharari team.

The joint operation took place at 3 AM, involving the 136 Bharari Squad of Bhiwandi West and the Narpoli Police. The suspect vehicle was impounded, and upon questioning, the driver and other personnel could not provide details about the contents of the cargo. Consequently, the vehicle was taken to the Narpoli Police Station for a detailed inspection.

In the presence of the courier agency’s owner and representatives from the Panchayat, police and Bharari team members unloaded the vehicle, revealing a total of 73 boxes of various items. These boxes were thoroughly checked, along with the corresponding bills.

During the inspection, 72 boxes containing gold, silver, and gift articles valued at Rs. 2,08,17,820 were found. The courier driver was able to present firm bills for materials worth Rs. 2,04,86,211, corresponding to the contents of 60 boxes. However, for the remaining boxes, items valued at Rs. 3,31,609, including silver and silver-worked gift articles, had no accompanying bills.

Further investigation is underway, and authorities advise carrying official bills for goods during transportation. Action will be taken against those found carrying unaccounted items or unauthorized amounts. All arrangements are in place to ensure the assembly elections are conducted peacefully and without fear.
