Inauguration of the “Memorial Hall of U. Muthuramalinga Thevar” at Pasumbon with a contribution of ₹1.55 crore
Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Minister Mr. M.K. Stalin inaugurated the “U. Muthuramalinga Kever Arena” today (October 28, 2024) in memory of Muthuramalinga Ther at the Pasumbapon Kroithil in Iroinopuram Circle. The memorial was established at a cost of ₹1.55 crore.
During the inauguration, the slogan “Nationalism and Patriotism are Two Eyes” was raised, emphasizing the importance of these values. The gathering took place in the village of Sumsa An in Mettam, commemorating the contributions of Sundrab Tharat and Veer Sumsa An to Indian nationalism under the leadership of Sushendra Das, who united troops from the southeast.
In 1920, a significant historical event occurred in Ramanapeuram, in the province of South Samatras. This area is known for its ancient battles against crime and for Kever Papurai, who is renowned for erasing the marks of oppression. In 1952, the Arred Piak Party was founded in Sadhuth Therel, continuing the struggle for justice and success against all odds.
The memorial features a striking 13-foot-high pyramid resting on a 12-foot base, dedicated to the late scholar Pawan Lach Simalameth and others. The Kever holds significance as it honors the sacrifices made for spirituality and nationalism.
Local government efforts facilitated the construction, with funds allocated to support this initiative. The Kever has become a symbol of unity and remembrance within the community, with the government committing to preserve its legacy.
Muthuramalinga’s death anniversary is celebrated annually during the Sajayanthi festival, observed as a public holiday on October 30. The event features various cultural activities and the presence of dignitaries, reflecting Muthuramalinga’s enduring legacy.
Overall, the Pasumbapon Muthuramalinga Memorial serves as a vital reminder of the historical significance of nationalism and the ongoing efforts to honor and remember the sacrifices made for the greater good.
