Tour de Hmuifang 2024 Successfully Concludes in Mizoram
Aizawl : Tour de Hmuifang 2024, one of Mizoram’s premier cycling events, concluded successfully today. Tourism Minister Pi Lalrinpuii flagged off the race at 6:30 AM from Vanapa Hall. Riders covered a challenging route, with Elite Category champion K. Ronel Singh of Manipur securing the title. This year’s event saw enthusiastic participation from across Mizoram and other states.
The race included five categories: Junior, Elite, Master, Open (Road), and Women’s Exhibition. The competition spanned different terrains, with riders traversing a rigorous 82 km for the Elite Category. Junior and Master Categories had a 54 km route from Maubuang to Hmuifang, while the Open (Road) covered a 50 km stretch.
The Flag Off Program was led by Dr. Franklin Lalrinngheta, MiCA President, who emphasized the importance of clean environments for cycling. Mr. Benjamin Lalnunsanga from the Mizoram Pollution Control Board highlighted safety and environmental responsibility during the event.
Over 48 participants competed, including 13 from other states like Manipur, Meghalaya, and Bangalore, showcasing Mizoram’s appeal in competitive cycling. Tourism Minister Lalrinpuii remarked on the state’s growing reputation for hosting significant sporting events, promoting Mizoram’s scenic beauty, and encouraging youth engagement in healthy lifestyles.
At the closing ceremony at Hmuifang Tourist Resort, awards were presented by Pi R. Lalrodingi from the Tourism Department, who commended the riders and the MiCA team. The event celebrated Mizoram’s expanding role in India’s cycling community, fostering local and national participation.
