Women’s Assistance No. 181 Recruitment Update
Esteemed Social Welfare and Women’s Rights Department Mrs. P. Geetha Jeevan’s statement.
Under the Social Welfare and Women’s Rights, a control measure for the support of women affected by issues has been implemented through the Social Welfare Department, known as “Women’s Assistance No. 181,” which is currently operational.
To fill the vacancies that have arisen at the Women’s Assistance No. 181 office, applications are to be submitted immediately to the website tn.gov.in for the advertised posts, as directed by the Social Welfare Department director. In it, for the position labeled as “Call Responders,” the qualifications were mistakenly listed in Tamil, English, and Hindi.
Once this advertisement for the recruitment came to the attention of the Tamil Nadu government, it was immediately removed from the website, and the recruitment announcement was corrected to allow applicants in Tamil and English only. Also, the director who mistakenly posted in the website was immediately dismissed from service, and disciplinary action has been initiated against him.
Our esteemed Chief Minister, in his official communication, acknowledged that the Tamil language holds great importance in the Dravidian tradition and is a crucial language in government activities. Official communications between the Union government and the state government predominantly utilize English.
The Tamil Mother’s Salutation, Thiruvalluvar, and the majestic 133rd floor of the sky-high towers are significant achievements celebrated at the World Tamil Conference, showcasing the richness of the Tamil language and contributing to the proud history of the Dravidian tradition. The pride that Tamils exhibit at various global events is a reflection of the historical significance attributed to the Tamil language.
Furthermore, the government prioritizes Tamil language proficiency for candidates in government jobs, emphasizing the Dravidian model of governance. The positions available in the Tamil Nadu government departments and state institutions are to be filled 100% with Tamil language speakers, as mandated by government guidelines, and this has been made a requirement for all educational institutions in the state.
The Tamil language development initiative by the government has garnered praise for its comprehensive approach. It is unfortunate that some are engaged in politics by exploiting the mistakes made by a government official regarding the Tamil language.
Therefore, we urge everyone to recognize the importance of Tamil and not to deceive the people regarding it. Under the leadership of our esteemed Chief Minister, the Tamil language and its related programs are continuously growing. Those who do not respect this will only raise their voices in protest. Hence, we must continue to uphold our mother tongue, Tamil.
