On the occasion of Chhath Mahaparva, Yogi government has launched Swacch Ghat Pratiyogita 2.0 across the state
Lucknow : To promote cleanliness, beautification, and a plastic-free environment at the ghats, the Yogi government has launched Swacch Ghat Pratiyogita 2.0 (Clean Ghat Competition 2.0) across the state on the occasion of Chhath Mahaparva. This competition, running until November 8, 2024, involves a range of activities to promote engagement and raise awareness among various organizations.
As part of the initiative, ‘Arpan Kalash’ have been placed at the ghats to encourage people to maintain cleanliness, and the ghats have been designated as ‘No Plastic Zones’ to restrict the use of plastic and thermocol.
Temporary toilets and bathing houses are being set up on the ghats, with a focus on regular maintenance. These efforts are being supported by the Swachh Sarathi Club, along with schools, colleges, universities, NGOs, and other voluntary organizations to bolster the success of the competition.
Innovative initiatives have been introduced to transform and beautify the ghats, with dustbins strategically placed to ensure proper waste disposal and maintain cleanliness in the area. Various activities are also being conducted to encourage active citizen participation in keeping the ghats clean.
The campaign is receiving strong support from NGOs, CSOs, and other volunteer organizations, which are not only conducting cleanliness drives at the ghats but also educating the public on the importance of maintaining a clean and safe environment.
