Mumbai Court Orders Custody for Shiva Kumar and Others in Baba Siddiqui Murder Case
In Mumbai, Maharashtra, a court has remanded Shiva Kumar, the primary suspect in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui, along with four accomplices, to police custody until November 19. The suspects were apprehended in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, through a coordinated operation by the UP Special Task Force and the Mumbai Crime Branch.
The case stems from the tragic incident on October 12, when Baba Siddiqui was fatally shot by three attackers near the office of his son, MLA Zeeshan Siddiqui, in Mumbai. Responsibility for the attack was claimed by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, whose leader is currently in jail.
Ongoing investigations by the Mumbai Crime Branch have further revealed that the Bishnoi gang had also targeted a political leader in Pune. According to a senior Crime Branch officer, the gang had strategized to assassinate this leader using their hired shooters. A pistol intended for this crime was recovered, which exposed the gang’s broader plan.
The Crime Branch has shared these findings with Pune Police, and further investigations are underway to ascertain if the suspects had previously scouted the area in preparation for the crime.
