Distribution of Rice Rations for Volunteers in Lunglei District

Today, Lunglei District Deputy Commissioner, Pu R. Lalṭhazuala, flagged off rice rations for distribution to volunteers across various localities in Lunglei.

Speaking on the occasion, Pu R. Lalṭhazuala expressed his appreciation for the selfless dedication of volunteers and community leaders working in different localities. He emphasized the importance of recognizing and supporting their tireless efforts. He urged all stakeholders, including local leaders, Village Councils, YMA, medical teams, and other contributors, to continue their noble services and extend unwavering support to the cause.

The Deputy Commissioner also commended the spirit of selflessness demonstrated by individuals who willingly step forward to assist during emergencies or as per the community’s needs.

Today’s distribution involved one pickup truck each for three localities — Ramthar, Farm Veng, and Serkawna — and one 407 truck for bulk distribution. Each household was allocated 20 kilograms of rice.

In total, 129.6 kilograms of rice is allocated for Lunglei District. While today’s distribution marks the beginning, plans are underway to continue the distribution in the coming days to ensure full coverage. It is reported that 1,829 volunteers are currently registered across various localities in Lunglei District.
