Prime Minister meets with Prime Minister & President : Trinidad and Tobago / Dominica / Grenada / Suriname
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago, H.E. Dr Keith Rowley on the sidelines of the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit in Georgetown, Guyana on 20 November.
Prime Minister congratulated Prime Minister Rowley for adoption of India’s flagship UPI Platform by Trinidad & Tobago and assured further collaboration in the field of digital transformation. He also commended Prime Minister Rowley for successfully co-hosting the ICC T20 Men’s Cricket World Cup earlier this year.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed progress in bilateral relations including collaboration in security, health, transportation, agriculture, capacity building, cultural exchanges and people-to-people ties. An MOU on food processing was exchanged after the talks.
Prime Minister meets with Prime Minister of Dominica
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met with the Prime Minister of Dominica H.E. Mr. Roosevelt Skeritt on the sidelines of the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit in Georgetown, Guyana.
The leaders discussed exploring opportunities for cooperation in fields like climate resilience, digital transformation, education, healthcare, capacity building and yoga They also exchanged views on issues of the Global South and UN reform.
Prime Minister meets with Prime Minister of Grenada
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met with the Prime Minister of Grenada, H.E. Mr. Dickon Mitchell, on the sidelines of the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit in Georgetown, Guyana on 20 November.
Prime Minister congratulated Prime Minister Mitchell on assuming the Chairmanship of CARICOM and for effectively steering the discussions at the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit.
During the meeting, discussions were held on development cooperation in the areas of ICT, healthcare, capacity building and climate change resiliency. PM Mitchell thanked PM for the vaccine support during the pandemic. He appreciated India’s leadership of the Global South.
Prime Minister meets with President of Suriname
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met with the President of Suriname, H.E. Mr. Chandrikapersad Santokhi on the sidelines of the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit in Georgetown, Guyana on 20 November.
The two leaders reviewed the progress of ongoing bilateral initiatives and agreed to enhance cooperation in areas such as defense and security, trade and commerce, agriculture, digital initiatives and UPI, ICT, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, capacity building, culture and people to people ties. President Santokhi expressed appreciation for India’s continued support for development cooperation to Suriname, in particular to community development projects, food security initiatives and small and medium enterprises.
Both leaders also exchanged views on regional and global developments. Prime Minister thanked President Santokhi for the support given by Suriname to India’s membership of the UN Security Council.
