Online Facility for Reserving Preferred Vehicle Registration Numbers

Mumbai : After initiating a new series of registration numbers, the transport office conducts an auction process for reserving numbers. Once the offline auction process is complete, the remaining unreserved registration numbers can now be reserved online. Vehicle owners no longer need to visit transport offices to reserve their preferred vehicle registration numbers. The state has launched an online system, The Integrated Solution for Booking of Registration Mark of Choice, for all transport offices.

A trial of this service was successfully conducted at the Regional Transport Office, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune district. This service is entirely faceless, requiring applicants to have an Aadhaar-linked mobile number. By entering their mobile number and obtaining an OTP via Aadhaar or mobile, users can reserve their desired registration numbers on the portal https://fancy.parivahan.gov.in/.

Currently, the traditional offline auction process will continue for reserving registration numbers after a new series is launched. Applications for attractive or preferred numbers will first be accepted by the respective office. If multiple applications are received for the same number, an auction will be conducted, and the applicant offering the highest amount will be issued an offline receipt upon payment of the number fee to the office cashier, as informed by the transport department.

Steps to Reserve a Preferred Registration Number Online:

  1. Visit https://fancy.parivahan.gov.in/ and click on New User/Register Now.
  2. Complete the registration process and verify via OTP sent to your email and mobile.
  3. Log in to the portal using the user ID and password received on your email or mobile.
  4. Select a preferred number from the available options online.
  5. Pay the required fee through the SBI e-Pay payment gateway and complete the process.
  6. Print the e-receipt and submit it to the vehicle dealer for registration.
