Achievements Under Navo Barmer
The campaign positioned Barmer as a model district for disability welfare despite its desert landscape and challenges. Highlights include:
- Screening of 7,025 individuals and approval of 2,130 disability certificates.
- Launch of a portal to guide and inform persons with disabilities about facilities for the first time in Rajasthan.
- Accessibility audits for government offices akin to polling station setups.
The campaign, started on October 6, 2024, ensured the issuance of disability certificates through medical board camps at sub-divisional headquarters. Additionally, large-scale provision of assistive devices to persons with disabilities was facilitated by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department.
Targeted Disability Welfare Programs
To overcome geographical challenges, specialized medical teams, including orthopedists, ophthalmologists, ENT specialists, and psychiatrists, conducted screenings at remote sub-divisional headquarters. Separate nodal departments were designated for different age groups to ensure effective identification and service delivery.
Impact Highlights
- Approval of 2,130 disability certificates, issuance of 1,545 UDID cards, and enrollment of 55 individuals with 122 children under the Palanhar Scheme.
- Renewal of 875 children’s registrations, sanctioning ₹39.37 lakh for the 2024-25 session.
- Approval of 73 new applications under the Social Security Pension Scheme and 310 roadways passes for persons with disabilities.
- Under the Chief Minister’s Specially-Abled Self-Employment Scheme, 72 applicants received benefits, including applications for electric wheelchairs worth ₹1 lakh each for 72 individuals.
- On October 28, a district-level assistive device distribution program provided aids worth ₹24.5 lakh to 358 persons with disabilities.
Tina Dabi’s coordination between departments, including Social Justice, Health, Panchayati Raj, and Revenue, ensured the success of this initiative. Help desks and e-Mitra counters were established at each camp to facilitate registration and service delivery.
The campaign exemplifies a comprehensive model for empowering persons with disabilities and improving access to essential resources and services.
