Andhra Pradesh Government Partners with Google to Advance Artificial Intelligence

Vijayawada: In a significant move to promote Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Andhra Pradesh government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google. The agreement, aimed at fostering AI-driven growth, was signed by Google Maps India General Manager Lalita Ramani and Andhra Pradesh Real-Time Governance (RTG) Secretary Suresh Kumar. The signing ceremony, held at the Secretariat, was attended by Human Resource Development and RTG Minister Nara Lokesh.

As per the MoU, Google will conduct skill development programs in schools and colleges to prepare students for emerging AI opportunities. Additionally, the collaboration will provide AI training for startups, traditional industries, and small businesses to enable them to adapt to the evolving technological landscape.

This partnership focuses on integrating AI and machine learning (ML) solutions into critical areas such as healthcare and environmental sustainability. It also seeks to develop digital infrastructure, boost economic growth, and establish a thriving AI startup ecosystem. Speaking on the occasion, Lokesh emphasized that the initiative aligns with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s vision of leveraging advanced technology to enhance public services and create global opportunities for Andhra Pradesh’s youth in AI-driven sectors.

Lokesh further highlighted that the MoU aims to simplify operations in complex sectors and deliver AI-driven benefits to the people, eliminating the need for citizens to visit government offices. He expressed confidence in the transformative potential of the partnership, which is expected to improve access to essential services through technology.

Google Maps India General Manager Lalita Ramani reiterated Google’s commitment to using AI for social progress. She praised Andhra Pradesh’s forward-thinking approach, emphasizing that the partnership would help tackle global challenges and promote community-driven advancements in AI.

Key dignitaries present at the signing ceremony included Economic Development Board CEO CM Saikant Verma, RTGS CEO Dinesh Kumar, CMO Secretary Kartikeya Mishra, and senior officials from the state’s Investment Department.

Earlier, Google Cloud India Vice President and Country MD Bikram Singh Bedi met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at his residence in Undavalli. Naidu described the partnership as a major milestone in accelerating the state’s development through AI. “This collaboration will empower citizens and businesses, foster innovation, and address critical sectors such as healthcare and sustainability,” Naidu stated.

Bedi added, “Our partnership with Andhra Pradesh aims to build a skilled workforce, support startups, and drive inclusive growth, ensuring the state becomes a model for AI-driven progress.”
