Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the inauguration of the state-level campaign of Pulse Polio at Samatva Bhawan, located at the Chief Minister’s residence. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav administered medicine to children below 5 years of age including twins Arnika and Anaya Rai, Kanishka, Niyati, Arth and Samarth. On this occasion, Minister of State for Public Health and Medical Education Shri Narendra Shivaji Patel, Principal Secretary of Public Health Shri Sandeep Yadav, representatives of W.H.O., and dignitaries were present.

Target to administer polio drops to 38 lakh children

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that a 3-day pulse polio campaign will be organized from December 8 to December 10. The target is to administer the medicine to 38 lakh children during this period. He said that the Pulse Polio campaign will prove to be fruitful only when no child is deprived of medicine. Mobile teams will accomplish their goal by going door-to-door and street-to-street to administer polio drops from the highest residential areas to brick kilns, crushers, construction sites, nomadic populations, and slums. He called upon the people to prove their alertness as parents and give free pulse polio vaccine to their children up to 5 years of age.

Do boond har baar, Polio par jeet barkarar

This campaign is being run in 16 districts of the state with the spirit of ‘Do boond har baar, Polio par Jeet barkarar’ two drops every time, victory over polio to continue. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that for continuous world-class development in health facilities, I thank Prime Minister Shri Modi and Union Health Minister Shri J.P. Nadda on behalf of the people of the state.

Polio is incurable, prevention is necessary

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that polio is an incurable disease, which is the main cause of disability in children. To ensure “double protection” children need to be given ‘Do boond Zindagi ki’ every time. The Pulse Polio campaign was started in 1995, the objective of which is to keep India polio-free. However positive cases of polio have been reported in some border countries. Given these, we will have to fight seriously against polio. We have conducted pulse polio campaigns in a planned manner by identifying the more sensitive areas. He said that an additional phase of the campaign has been organized in Bhind, Bhopal, Chhindwara, Datia, Gwalior, Indore, Katni, Khargone, Mandsaur, Narsinghpur, Neemuch, Niwari, Satna, Sheopur, Tikamgarh and Vidisha.
